1987 Fiesta 1.4S - It drives!

Postby MK2 Jamie on Tue Jul 24, 2012 12:22 am

I've bought another MK2 to add to my collection, possibly the rarest model MK2 ever made in fact. I don't actually have it yet, it's being delivered Saturday morning due to needing a new gearbox. It has 55k on the clock and the shell is extremely clean. Plans for it are to replace the gearbox, put all the interior back in (previous owner had it out checking for rot) and MOT it. I'm pretty confident it will go through an MOT fairly easily. Ignore the cossie wheels in the picture, it will be going back on 13" steels and hub caps like it came out the factory with :aviator:

They're are quick for what they're are, 75bhp standard. I can honestly say my ghia with the same engine is more fun to drive than my MK5 ZS was. When the second choke opens at 3.5k it's like vtec kicking in

severly worried about the car being able to take it though, light as heck, and the floopy suspension gives little confedance, brakes are poo too untill your putting the weight of a horse on the pedel

im hoping my spare mk3 brakes fit it

The new box is in but it turns out the old box wasn't to blame  the picture below hows what was wrong. The drive shaft had been welded to the stub axle (that goes into the gearbox) and the weld had sheared. The splines on the axle or in the stub axle must have been fubar for them to weld it together. It's some next level Ken bodging.

Jesus :o :o

That what it was then mate?????, i hope so for you but.......................................

See when i dropped the box we dropped the drivers hub/ undone rear mount for shaft, pass shaft out, both lower arms an the rest....Reason being as id heard the rear shaft mount on block can be an arse if old and replacements are nla, so left as much in as poss.. :)

Never even thought to look at the shaft, did ask about as too how its removed, but in end just did it as above...

If it is that, and id have known it was, she would still be here now...Im so so GUTTED now

Bodging cnuts :x :x :x :x Now get her fixed so i can buy her back :Q :D

Although for the price you payed you could have bought THIS :o :o ....Get her fixed :Q :Q

I like the quality of the fibres in that plastic bag. I'd go so far as that, and the yellow on the screwdriver handle mean I am visually stimulated by the photo.
