1995 Fiesta Azura 1.1L clutch problems

Hay all, just got home after picking up a new to me mk3, 162 miles in a 1.1 best way to spend a Sunday afternoon (radio would have been nice though) any way the only problem I have is this....

The clutch pedal sticks down, if I go to the floor with the pedal it stays there! This may be a simple fix, after a quick internet search I belive it may be the pawl mechanism but some clarification would be nice.
