2.0 Conversion
Just wondering,
what sort of dollar are ya talking for the conversion to be done ?
dont think its the kind of thing i could do myself,
so if i had some one do it or a garage etc
Seriously debating it now

well, it depends on how you want to do it.
Would you want to replace all gaskets and pumps? or stick with wats there??
Engine's seem to sell for about £300, but i found one with 48k from a breakers fro £140 delivered nxt day. Go on some breakers websites and fill in the forms then they ring you with what they have.
What engine have you got at the moment?? as you need to swap bits from a 1.8 or 1.6 aswell.
Ecu and MAF about £40-50

you could do it your self if you have the tools.
once the old engine is out, you bolt the new one in, depending on what engine your taking out will depend on what else needs changing, and some things will be easy to change while engine is out, but once there done and the new engine is in its just a case of fitting everything back to it.
if you had to pay a garage to do it i hate to think what it would cost ya, at a guess min of £500 just for the work cos of what they charge but this depends where you go.
if i were to do it all for you start to finish and you had all the bits needed i would prob only charge a couple of hundred, and thats at worst, if you had a 1.6 efi cvh you dont need to change fuel lines etc so my charge would drop as less hassle.
i recommend ya get the haynes manual and have a read up, but as i say to a lot of people, if you dont feel you can complete a job, or cant complete it safely, dont start it.
and if you can have someone that can help that knows a bit or better, knows a lot then give it a go, but only if you think you can complete the job.

i spent about £600 - £800 on my conversion ( thats nearly all new parts from ford) , but a friend and i did my conversion, neither of us had worked on a fiesta before(well i had never even touched a car before, and he usually works on sierra's) it took us about 2 weeks as i didn't want to rush it

I spent £400 on a whole fiesta RS1800 with a 1.6 si gearbox plus about another £100 on service parts. Me Smo and eddy spent a week doing the whole conversion and im just trying to get my money back from selling the other bits of the car. I had never done an engine change before and Smo had only just done his, only by reading up on it.
So give it a go, but plan ahead and make sure you have enough money to do it plus some as it will always cost you more than you think

That was fun, wasn't it Steve I have the urge to do something else now
Things to budget for (on top of the engine, MAF and ECU), would be a new timing belt, water pump, oil filter, engine oil and coolant. If the clutch hasn't been changed for a while, it would be sensible to changet this too.
