2.0 sounds like a 1.1

Postby Wude Si 16v on Fri Feb 21, 2003 12:23 am

no offence meant to people with 1.1 cars...

After the 2.0l conversion everything was fine until the lifters/tappets(whatever they are) started to rattle, i put some new ones in and they have started again. why does this keep happening, my engine is eating lifters. it really does sound like a 1.1,

many thanks, Adam.

Err, you *did* change the cams as well, didn't you?

Otherwise your cam just ate another set of lifters :(

it is running the cams that came with the engine, 2.0 ones, thought this wouldn't be a problem.

project - do you need uprated cams, if they are fine in a mondeo, why won't they be fine in a fiesta, still the same engine right... :-?

i thought one of the oil feeds to the head might be blocked, not enough oil like the other chap said.

any help appreciated,

Adam.

Wude,

Click here for an explanation, and then start counting your pennies cos cams ain't cheap.

Your only alternative is to get the cams and tappets out of another (2.0L) engine, but YOU MUST KEEP EACH TAPPET WITH IT'S RESPECTIVE CAM LOBE! Don't mix them up or you will just end up dumping even more swarf into the sump.

Ps Wude, I've just double checked and my first instinct is that your cam has eaten the tappets. You might want to have your oil pressure checked asap too (buy a cheap oil pressure pod gauge?) but if you read the link I gave you above, you'll see that just fitting new tappets on an old cam is ... err, a bad idea.

if you want to perform a 2.0 conversion on a 2i then you need to get hold of the engine, loom, ecu, mounts, maybe a few sensors and then get someone very clever to install it all. anything is possible, but it may cost quite a few pennies.

project -
been a great help, will let you know of the end result.

cheers, Adam.
