2.0 vs 1.8, its transplant time!

right, im not selling my car now, instead im doing an engine conversion!

but some people are telling me that the 2.0 zetec block weighs a lot more then the 1.8, so therefore do you actually gain much more by putting a 2.0 in as a pose to a 1.8?

surely they are the same engine, just the 2.0 has a bigger bore?
which out of the two would u choose and why??

does anyone know the weight of the engines?
a long shot i know, but if someone could shed some light i would be very apreciative!

If you are going to the effort then get the 2.0L

It may be heavier (*may*), but it's got more torque anyhow so it will still pull harder. Designed for a heavy mondeo, not a lightweight Fiesta.

what aspects of it weigh more?

if anything i'd of thought it weighs less due to the less metal on the cylinders?

both the 130 1.8 and 2.0's have the oil jet sprays... but TBPH i cant see the difference making THAT much difference, specially considering the torque difference as stoned said :)

i doubt verry much that there is much difference in the actual weights of the engines as they are physicaly the same dimensions.... but with different bore sizes

the extra power and torque from the 2 litre is well worth going for and you have a greater tuning potential...

leave it standard for a bit til i get bored, then play with it a bit more!
turbo seems a good idea, or twin carbs......... throttle bodies seem a bit expensive @ £1.5k
