There's quite a few things to consider mate

Firstly the mondeo 2.0L zetec has completely different mounting points to the mk4 1.25L meaning custom mounts would need to be fabricated. The Focus 2.0L zetec however has very similar mounts to the 1.25L.

Secondly the 1.25L runs on EEC-V management where as the 2.0L runs on EEC-IV meaning some loom work would need to be done.

Other things like exhaust would need to be considered as it exits the engine from the back on the 1.25L and from the front on the 2.0L.

Oh yeah if you fnd out any more info on this let me know please mate

Just fit the Focus 2.0L engine, and if poss wiring loom and ECU.

Focus 2.0L is rated at a higher power output than the early (Zetec-E) 2.0L anyway it appears - something like 145PS vs 135PS?

Not according to Ford, it isn't http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/focus/foc_spec ... specs_eng/

I'm not sure I believe that though - MMo's did 145bhp with nothing but exhaust, filter and decat.

so ya reckon the focus 2.0 will be a better option then. r u sure they use similar engine mounts? i know that the 1.25 has a mount on the top left hand side of the engine but i didnt think that the focus engine did? anyway has anyone any rough ideas on prices for this?

is far as i know the rs1800 mounts should be roughly the same as the 2.0 zetec lump.If anyone can tell me if this is true as a mate of mine wants to do this conversion. Also fitting a fabricated exhaust with a sports and cat freeflow manifold you should be looking at a 30bhp gain
