2.0 Zetec in a 1.8 xr2i
Right, After talking to a few peeps at weston i've deiceided what i want to do! 2litre conversion!
I know you have to swap bits from the 1.8 to the 2.0 but i cant remember what! Also:
Does the fuel pump need to be changed?
Can I keep the manifold?
What ECU shall i use?
Will my engine mounts fit?
What Flywheel can i use?
Will my gearbox bolt straight on?
What throttle body to use?
I think thats about everything! If anyone has hints, tips or pic please let me know
thanks

just read the post properly lol your best bet is to buy the full mondie engine with ecu that way you will have everything you need for conversion. the only thing you may find is the plate that covers the box don't fit on the 2.0 properly as mounts are a bit different.

Duncan - ive got the 1800 zetec in at the mo.
X-Factor - From what i understand so far there are a few parts that need to be swapped over fromt he 1800 to the 2.0.
And could i run it with the xr2i management with a unichip or would i have to use the mondy ECU?

My FF conversion used 2.0 block and 1800 head ported etc.
You would need maff sensor and change of ECU would be best, plus RS1800 throttle is uprated already. If you buy a full engine you shouldn't need anything other than ECU and maff sensor

I think you'd use RS1800 or 2.0L (i.e. any 130ps) throttle body, ECU and mass air flow sensor.
Retain your existing flywheel, sump, gearbox, and mounts.
You can retain your existing pump but no-one would criticise you for spending a bit of dosh on a brand new Mondeo or RS1800 pump .
I've got absolutely zero experience of Unichips but any aftermarket chip is likely to be more prone to running problems and any 130ps ECU from a similar year model to yours should do the job unquestionably well chap.
Hope that helps more than it hinders

Simon the Maff sesnsor sits by the air filter box/K&N if you have one basically an air flow sensor

to do the conversion from 1800 to 2 litre you will need hardly anything :-p
all you have to do is swap the sump, oil pickup and the water pump. Your engine mounts will bolt streight on and the engine should run on the origional management just fine and your origional manifolds will fit streigth on aswell.
You may want to change your MAF sensor at some point but it's not essential streight away.
It is a verry easy streight folward conversion that should take you no longer then a day to complete.
it's easy and cheap probably cost you no more then £250 £300 if your lucky

Lovley Stuff! Cheers. A drink for each helpful hint!
So I dont have to change the fuel pump?
The RS1800 throttle body is a good bet?
And maybe the ecu?
Gotta do my research before i do anything! And my dad (he dont know it yet!) will do the work for me! The guy knows his stuff!

Project ST2000 :Paul, Simon has 105ps management, tb, etc. I'm convinced it won't run a 130ps engine properly.
I might be wrong but isn't the Type-R running the 105ps ECU that was in the white 2i?
