• Balanced Bottom End (2.1)
• Forged Pistons (86mm mahle forged 9:1 CR).
• ST170 exhaust manifold (Race 4-2-1 design).
• ARP Rodbolts
• Fully Flowed Head (Std valves will be fine)
• 45mm Throttle Bodies (Or Carbs!)
• 130ps Cams (Or Aftermarket if budget permits - tho 200bhp is possible on 130ps cams)

One 200-210bhp screamer :D

Phil, not sure if I've missed something here but 9:1 is a little low :-?
really to geta real 200 bhp outta a TB'd zetec, which is not as easy as everyone thinks you need to run a decked block as close to 11:1 as poss with Kent or Raceline cams TB's 45mm with correct horn length (this can be the difficult bit and I would suggest usint the TE manifold as it less hassle and would work out the same sort money.
To make a real howler I'd go for pocketed pistons to enable supersport Kent or top of the range Raceline cams, though this is not a necessity.
And ofcourse you'll need a mgmt upgrade of some sort

would suggest a call to fiesta frenzy he may be talked into doing a n/a his own turbo engine with 7. summit -1 c:r did over 150 bhp with no boost at all. so with 10.5/11-1c:r it should be interesting. also as for going for ported zetec heads i would strongly advise asking for flow test results first before buying anything.

Jay, 9:1 is a little low, but it enables you to get forged pistons for about £100!!!

The spec i listed is very cheap indeed and will see a cracker of an engine. If you have a spare £500 then get some JE Pistons at about 11:1 aye.

Best heads IMO come from Scholar Race Engines :D :D

Dave Walker of Emerald (& CCC magazine) recommended Burton Power for the Zetec head. Trouble is, their Stg3 head with 2mm larger inlet and exhaust valves is £1300!!

And then there's http://www.raceline.co.uk

I'm going to keep my std head and fit the Piper cams I've decided. No point in me changing the head unless I also rebuild the engine to increase compression ratio etc. I'm going to do the '04 season with new suspension and the new cams, and build a new engine at the end of the year.

I don't know yet as i still need to get it se up on the rolling road and the car needs some other things doing to it yet.

I've also got plans to swap the Alpha ECU for a MoTeC M48/DTA/Gems and run 4 more 803's set further out from the trumpets and run them at 50% each at full throttle and i forgot some NOS aswell but i hope to see 260+ with out the NOS

out of interest is this in a Mk3 I run 45 TB's on my Mk3 the main issue I have is space for the trumpets and filter what have you don on yours ?
Also how does it run on 48's is it not a bit dead lower down the rev range ?

Freakpower it seem syou well and truley caught the N/A tuning bug!!

I remember your zvh in Fastford. that looked the nuts :D

This new setup of yours must rev really highly - 8 - 9k tops!

Surley on that kinda setup the power must start to come in at around 3500 +?

just curious mate!

cheers

Its going into a Mk2 Orion, space too is a issue but with some bulk head mods and removel of the heater blowers and i'll be able fit longer trumpets and a larger filter, I don't know how it runs yet as the short engine is in the car and the head is having some work done on it and having a custom zorst made [ERRR] the bore of my magnex is far to small for the power output i'm hoping for. Running on the 48's should be ok as its hight compression and being 2070cc now my old engine was a bit dead a bit low down the rev range so it wont bother me as its a bit like turbo lag.

SimonT
I have a bit of the tuning bug  The ZVH gave up the ghost when revved to high using the standard rods.
New engine should rev to about 8.5k and with the steel rods it should be save. power should start to kit in at about 3k-ish.

The 2.0 16v Zetec is a grate engine and as soon as the ZVH died i wanted to go for that engine, but as everone on here knows there are louds of Zetec turbo about, i wanted to do something a little diffrent by building this engine, the ulitmate N/A Zetec maybe ?

freak power, sounds like you've spent plenty wonga on the engine.

I find that the torque (150ft/lb) is more than enough at the moment with my lightweight shell. What does your's drive like? Must be fun

I'm building it, i've been building engines for some time now, done many ZVH's and Zetec most of them have been N/A.
I've always got my advice from Ian Howell of Fiesta Frenzy/Area 6 but this engine is all mine.

Chumkila
If i get it to a thrash i'll give you a ride in in, BTW have you fitted that Focus Sport manifold i sold you.

Grahamb
Don't even want to know how much i've spent on the engine alone not even the car aswell.
I was thinking what this engine would be like in a lighter car and the 1st car that came to mind was yours.
The engine is not in the car yet as its been put on hold for a bit as i've just fitted a Stack SR500 ( like Sunnys ) rear disc's, polly bushes all round with some rose joints in there, plus lots more.

there is a couple of reasons really. i wanted more power but relible power so i want all new components. plus the insurance will be cheaper as the rs1800 is group 15/16 whereas a 2.0 in a fiesta is group 12 with adrian flux and group 9 with HIC.

ive ordered up all my parts now and my final spec is:
Raceline Head 190/200
Raceline RL200 Cams
New Ford Zetec Block
Block Decked
valve springs Duplex
lightened flywheel
ARP Con Rod bolts
Vibratech gearbox mounts
B&M short shift selector
