2.0L Tuning

Postby Luke_Si on Mon Mar 20, 2006 8:37 pm

Hi All,
I have transfed my boarding 1.6 si to a 2.0 now for sometime.

I have changed the gearbox to a short ratio monster LOL

But its time to do a little more what mods do people recommand for there 2.0L

All so is the 1.8 MAF the same size as 2.0 as I am using the 1.6 inlet pipe and causeing resurtion which is a pain.

You need a 2.0 MAF + ECU From Same car.

Try a focus inlet?

1.6 Inlet is slightly smaller than RS1800 item etc.

Stainless exhaust? De-cat? Manifold?

Depends how much you want to spend. You could save up to turbo it? Or instead opt for performance cams, maybe cars or whatever they are, and a decent chip or at least rolling road your motor to get it running right. On ebay there are some chips that offer around 8bhp or sumin for like £100 for the zetec. What gearbox do you have on your car atm? If you stuck with the si one, an xr2i has a shorter second gear and longer 5th for economy.

Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

Guys it seems you have not understood thanks for the help.

I am using the following setup

1800 Inlet Manifold on a 2.0 Engine with a 2.0L TB and 2.0 Injectors with a 2.0 MAF and ECU.

Gearbox I know for a fact is very quick and short in every gear its off a ford car but not a fiesta. Cant say as it took me a while to get the information sorry guys.

But what I want to know is what extra stuff I could do.

I want a 4-2-1 Manifold but its hard to find one that will fit in a fiesta the ashley when needs work to make it fit :(

I have got cat stainless system.

I am going to rolling road it soon which should help a little : )

As well what is a good inlet pipe to use as the 1.6/1.8 is to small for the MAF what have other people done on this problem.

Could you please post a link about the chip and I will look at it but it better not be the MAF one as they dont work LOL

Alll so is there away of making a short shift for these MK3's because the only one I can find is spuid price.

If any one can come up with any thing please post back many thanks.

Also has any one raced on a drag with a VTS Saxo I have and he won only by a ich or so. But I won the first round. Has any else have problems with these bare in mind I had full tank of fuel and he claims he did but I am not sure about that.

I have heard that the mk4 fez one fits a mk3 as its the same gearbox, or maybe it was an escort one? One of the traders on ukfn said it would work, but as thats down i cant find the info soz.

As for the chip, im not 100% as its fairly cheap, although apparently it goes into the correct port. When I get my 2.0 in, i'll defo get one if i have the spare cash!

As for the vts, ive heard that the 2.0 should be on par and maybe abit quicker when running right.

Get a focus inlet then mix and match focus/mondy 2.0 pipes.

Fitting a focus muti layer head gasket will bring the compression ratio upto 11:1, Cams and head work works well on the Zetec, The best sort of manifold is from a focus again, if you can find one a focussport up and over manifold a bit like the one you see in my sig
