How do you get 2.1 with the turbos?? is it a 2.0 engine but when u lower the compression so much u gain another 100cc's?? or is there something i've missed?

As far as I know, the Series 1 and 2 2.0 Zetecs are simply bored out 1.8 blocks, so boring them out to 2.1 would probably be a bit dangerous.

A 2ltr zetec is not a bored out 1.8 block, few minor differances for eg oil spray jets etc. 2.1 is achieved by boring it out slighty, totally safe, how else do people such as Sunny run so much power through them with no probs, many people raplace the cvh bottom end for a zetec for improved strength.

Excursions Website :The block has been significatnly strengthened, as the earlier 2 litre derivatives of the engine were simply an overbored 1.8. The new engine has more metal between the bores

A 2.0 series 3 is a true 2.0, not bored out. The oil spray jets can be fitted to any zetec I think, they are on 130ps RS1800 and escort zetecs.

It's because the bore size (not the stroke) is increased from 84.9 to 86mm.

Most aftermarket pistons are oversized as they are normally fitted to engines that have some wear to them. A standard sized piston would not closely enough.
