Raymondo :the galaxy 2.3 isnt a zetec, its an I4 engine. Basically a bigger verion of the 2.0l unit used in the mk5 and mk6 RS2000's
top info mate
so the next question is has anybody put the rs 2000 in a mk3 fiesta?
if they have i want to know if the 2.3 fits aswell

Re: 2.3 zetec
mcb35 :has anyone ever tried to fit a 2.3 zetec engine out of a galaxy into a fiesta before ?
I've seen a 2.0 I4 RS2K engine in a Mk3 Fiesta, the 2.3 I4 out of the galaxy is the same as the 2.0 I4 its just the bore, stroke and the head thats different.
I've been told a engine mount needs to be fabricated and then you can use the RS2k flywheel and clutch and use the CVH box, then an exhaust needs to be made and that the basic's of getting the engine in.
I'm not 100% sure of the above info

XFactor had a RS2000 engine in their old demo car I believe. Never heard of a Duratec in a Fiesta (as yet) but Ian Howell of Area Six is creating his first monster Duratec as we speak so he's always worth a bell

wouldn't he be fitting a duratec from a focus?
There seems to be a few different variants of the duratec engine and I'm guessing the one from a focus is similar to the zetecs in the mk3 and the ones from the galaxy are similar to the Escort RS2k engine.
Also heard of an 8 valve version? I think someone said it was in the SportKa....
Well I dont know what I'm talking about, maybe someone else does.

RS_Raz :There definately has been a mk3 on here with a RS2k/I4 engine. It was a red track car. I'm quite sure most people were saying it was a poor engine choice as it's so much heavier than the zetecs.
Very true. The I4 engine, as strong as it is, was based on a cast iron block and head assembly, and is therefore very heavy for a light front drive Fiesta. As said, the I4 has been fitted to a Mk3 Fiesta on this site somewhere, although i cant recall who it was. A novel conversion if you fancy something different and more than 2.1 litres, but again, beware of the weight penalties.
