2 litre silver top into RS1800

Postby wayners1800 on Fri Jul 01, 2005 5:03 pm

Hi,

I've finally got a complete mk1 mondeo donor car to fit a 2litre into my 95 mk3.5 rs1800. I've read the excellent guide on here and just want to check a few things, particularly to do with the rs1800.

1. Am I right in thinking I can just swap over my rs1800 inlet manifold complete with injectors etc onto the 2litre?(so fuelling is the same as the standard 1800 set up)

2 The rs fuels to 130ps, the 2 litre I have is 136ps, do I just run the same ecu etc as before(original rs1800 stuff).

3 I can run the original 1800 oil pump but with a cvh filter.

I think all I'm basically doing is the equivalent of a block and head change with all else the same as the 1800, if you can see any holes in that please point them out, i will be swapping the engine in the next couple of weeks.
Also did the insurance change much for people who have done it?

Cheers

Wayne.

yes you can fit your inlet manifold onto the 2ltr, but use the injectors off the 2ltr, in the 1800 manifold

use the 2ltr ecu, it's designed for the engine

3 I can run the original 1800 oil pump but with a cvh filter.
use the oil pump and filter off the 1800

I think all I'm basically doing is the equivalent of a block and head change with all else the same as the 1800, if you can see any holes in that please point them out, i will be swapping the engine in the next couple of weeks.
