2 ltr engine

Postby Jonezy on Sat Nov 18, 2006 4:25 pm

if i were to fit a 2ltr to ma fiesta what kind of 0-60 times would i be able to expect, bought 7.5?

thats a long way off but a 1.6 zetec has come up v cheap £50 actually, if were to use a 1.3 gearbox insted of the si one would it be faster as i believe the perforamnce of the si motor is a tad disapointing

You'd be right in beleiving the performance of the Si is pants.

Would expect a 2.0 Zetec conversion to pull late 7 early 8's on the 0-60 dash.

You should be able to get down to 7 seconds with good tyres, diff and a not-too-heavy car. Mike Wallis got a 7.1 with his very standard 2.0 IIRC :)

also as avove, if i ere to go for a 1.6 untill insurance allow a 1.8/2ltr, would i be any better of usin the 1.3 box as i believe the si box has a very long 1st and 2nd gear - probably why its so slow to 60,

correct me if im wrong

Si box will be longer than the 1.3, but is shorter than the rs boxes. Personaly i'd buy an si when you can insure it, then put a 2.0 in that. Putting a 1.6 then 2.0 in your current car just wouldnt be worth it. YOu could try running the 2.0 through the 1.3 box, not sure what the top end would be, but acceleration should be mental!

Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

All later 1.1 boxes were IB5 boxes so their bearings are strong enough. I should imagine that the 1.3 box is the same as the 1.1, although I have no hard and fast facts about that. What I can say with authority is that running a 1.8 zetec with 1.1 box produces 0.60 times in line with the 2.0 engine, that's if you can stop the puppy wheelspinning! You suffer as soon as you hit third gear but, mechanically it should be ok. In order to put it on mine I needed to run the zetec clutch with the 1100 release bearing and I have had no issues so far, 10000ish miles on.

However as I have said the IB5 box is stronger and as it turns out my 1100 box is IB5. I wouldn't want to vouch for how long an 1100/1300 BC box would last when strapped up to a 2.0's torque.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

na , preety much every SI neer me is a dog and i struggle to find one with less than 90,000 miles.

im not inclined to sell mine either as its very clean, 30000 miles, suspension is sorted, brakes are more than good enough and after all the trouble ive gone thru to get an xr kit on it i dont think so, there is very little dirrefent between an si and my car now anyway,

i also have access to just about every part from an si apart from the shell and the lower arms. for almost free.

also i enjoy my car being different nd dont want a black/java blue\aubergine si. every one has one, no offence.

there is no chance of sellin my car for an si , ell will freeze over before that happens.
