23k mile FRST.
Well, After viewing this car a month ago and putting a deposit down, today was finally the day that I collected it.
Firstly I had to drop off my previous FRST to its new owner en-route
So my plans are; spend this year and over the Winter restoring this to compete in concours next year.
Even though my previous FRST was an excellent base this one is far better needing a lot less work to get it to the standard I want.
Pictures
The previous owners waiting to wave the car goodbye
Mileage shot
Random under bonnet sticker
Probably never been sat in rear seats
Rare air duct
Date stamp on the underside of the boot carpet
I've not had much time to check it over, its tucked away in my parents garage now.
I'll report back once I get the time to look it over properly on my plan of attack for it.

Cheers Mark, after doing the sums it made sense to buy this one and move the black one on,
this one isn't perfect, it needs a mini restoration, but has 99% all the original parts,
the engine is sweet, I've never heard one so quiet ! and the electric windows go up and down at warp speed

Nice one. But would it not be best keeping it 100% as it is, opposed to changing things about??

To compete in expert class it needs to be restored bud, the underside has never been touched and needs sorting,
There is an 'unrestored' class, but that one doesn't really interest me, I know that like Edd the first show it's taken to there will be things that need to be addressed but that's all part of the concours scene,
I want to be happy with it before I even start to show it which means a mini resto.
I have boxes of brand new parts that I want to fit to it as well.

What a fookin shed. I can't believe you've bought that rust bucket Shaun
Joking aside m8, I hope finally you have what you were looking for.
A perfect base to create something special which will be the envy of us all
But if all it came down to was that silly plastic pipe off the airbox, then I would have sent you mine....lol
Total good luck to ya mate, it looks like the previous owners to you have done a few bits also as It didnt look as perfect as it is now when I last touched it with 17k on the clock 3 yrs ago (refurbed totally silver front wheels)
The last owner before whom you bought it off owned an immaculate RS200 and this was an investment for his Daughter.
Enough waffle m8. enjoy the fine example you have bought, you deserve it after the money you have spent finding possibly the best available today.( And thats no disrepect to Grays as his is immacule too)
Matt (well jealous)

Re: 23k mile FRST.
Cheers Matt, had a right chuckle reading that
It is nice but needs a lot of work to make it anywhere near as nice as Edd's car, mate.
I'm not sure on my plan of attack but the engine and box will be coming out and the underbody will need a complete refurb.
Basically to get to anywhere near the standard I want everything will be stripped, plated, painted or powder coated.
The paint is good but again a few stone chips on the front means paint work is needed.
Blimey, it's an expensive game this concours lark

I know where you want to go mate, but it seems a real shame to me to turn what is currently a genuine and original car into a 'new car replica' - if that makes sense. To me what you have there is far nicer than a car restored and made to look like it just rolled off the production line.
No doubt it'll be awesome when done however

Re: 23k mile FRST.
Understand what your saying guys, but the look I want is of a 'new car' as such,
The underside looks nothing like the rest of the car atm
The cream / overspray look will remain underneath, the standard finish on the underside is rather half hearted,
we all know these cars were never finished / designed / built to last 20+ years!
Edd's car looks far better underneath but I want the factory finish.
I might it even roll it out the garage on Sunday morning and pop it up on some ramps, you'll all then see the mission I have ahead of me

Re: 23k mile FRST.
Fair play mate ! It's a tough one this, do you lock it away for sunny days and shows, or do you restore it and lose the originality ?
Either way it's a nice find
You're right about the half hearted finish though, I was surprised at the underseal/protection of the underside of my fiesta. Mind you, given the age it obviously works

That's a beauty mind last one wernt too shabby lol.
imop its gotta be left prime'd underneath, that's rarest part of most frst's
finding one that ain't been painted body underneath.
Mine wont be it'll be 2k'd then maybe lacquered....maybe lol
