2ltr Zetec ECU codes & automatic question

Postby unknown_user on Sat Mar 27, 2004 7:50 pm

Imp going to buy a 2ltr engine from an Auto mondeo and a standard ECU from a mondeo, Are there any preferred ECU codes that work best?

Also is there any thing I should be watching out for as iv done the conversion before but with a standard 2ltr zetec. I know summink about the cps but is there any thing I should look out for when parting with my cash.

The engine is £200 and the ECU is £75 I know I need a pre 94 ECU? He said he had a few normal ECU's there so I wondered what codes worked best etc.

Thanks for your help its Appreciated!

m8 the following are the required ECUs. These are all listed as 2.0 Mondeo manual for the Zetec Silvertop as I call it. You have rightly spotted that the Auto one is no good.

Also if you are getting an Auto engine there is one REALLY IMPORTANT THING NOT TO MISS. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE SMALL ALLOY HOUSING THAT HOLDS THE CRANK SENSOR FOR THE ONE OFF YOUR Si or ONE FROM ANY 1.6/1.8/2.0 Zetec manaul (thay are all the same i think). IF YOU DONT THE SENSOR IS IN THE WRONG POSITION RELATIVE TO THE FLYWHEEL AND YOU WILL NOT GET A CRANKING SIGNAL.

I found out about this only after I had the engine and box back in and guess what---you have to take the box off to change this poxy little housing!!!!

Personally mine has DEEP but think any of others should also be fine
