300+hp Zetec Turbo...engine ready for dyno 2/1/07
God that brings back memories of doing mine, I used exactly the same stuff. It will never crack, mines been done well over a year and I can bend the bumper without any probs. Go with a subtle colour change just to be different Bassboy

hey danny boy...yeah was thinking of a subtle colour change...will see how it goes...although radient red when new does look different to most RST's out there as the paint is fresh and looks extra bright lol
went down to shockin coachworks as well they might possibly do a little of the work for me and maybe the actual paint work but am unsure at the moment
max - a place called maccess, its a trade place for traders...only about a pound or 2 from there

well, yesterday i managed to put the rest of the filler on, sanded it down...left with a million sections that needed filling again, so put the second layer on and will finish sanding that today not too sure howmany layers ill need in total but im off to maccess to get some more filler soon just in case
rest of the bumper with filler
sanded down the first layer
applied second layer which ill sort out in a bit
glad with the progress of the bumper...cant wait till its done though lol and when the car comes back
welder has had a spark hit his face or eye or something and has left him with a swollen face so is taking some time off so i dont really know when ill get my car back now

a block mate...if you look at the lines of the bumper they are pretty straight with no curves as such...so the line i am filling i am trying to get as flat as possible between the surfaces if u get [ERRR] i mean hence using the block

bassboy like what your doing with the rs but "theres always a but isnt there" anyway can you photoshop your car without the bad boy but with the smooth bumper.
i dont know what it is i just think the bad boy makes the front of the car look squashed and it doesnt follow the lines of the escort which may i ad are some of the best lines ive seen on a car.
trust me ive owned 3 escort rst's just my opinion im not saying dont do it just wana see what it looks like without
it seems like your going for the smooth look but then the sharp look of the badboy to much in one space less is more now days god im starting to sound like that tart from th d.i.y programme just my opinion though

Hi dave, the BB is not getting done now too many people opting against it and it was never really too much to my taste anyway LOL...so i think ill just stick with a smoothed front and no BB.
i agree with the lines of the car being good...hence ALOT of subtle changes and nothing major - i.e different bumpers, spoilers etc

cheers peeps :top: :top: been a bit diffcult to work on the car at the moment as i have had a few customers cars in the garage doing sound installs etc but i sanded the second layer of filler down last night and put another one on...
its sitting like this at the minute
my dad also spoke to the welders today and it seems like they have stopped working on my car :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: pi55ed off is an understatement! the welder is now claiming he didnt know about the sills needing a plate welding in as well etc....so dad had a right go at them today and to get it sorted or they aint getting paid
takes the mick though...everything i seem to be getting done elsewhere for this car has turned into a nightmare!! first my rear suspension and now this! lets just hope i dont have to wait 10-11months for this and even then have to ask for my money back :wall: :wall:
can u tell im going through mixed emotions at the minute lol

hi adz...i know it will be worth the wait...but i had this week off so i could work on the car but i guess thats gone out the window...
preparing the full car should take me about a month and thats including doing all the work to it that i want to do - i.e modifying the bumpers, de-locking etc etc...it might take longer, maybe shorter but its hard to say as im back at uni from next week making it difficult to work on the car much...will see how it all goes

got some piccies :top: :top: :top:
the arches also come out slightly wider than the normal arches so i can space the back wheels out a bit more or so i can go 8 wide on the back with no scrubbing HOPEFULLY
also sanded the bumper down again...getting there slowly slowly :top:
going back out after eastenders to carry on sanding

another update peeps...got these parts through today...
my headlights :top:
completly clear indicators :top:
smoked rear lights :top:
Brand new Ford front wings :top:
New Ford badge :top:
Saph cossie number plate light :top:
A-pillar gauge holder :top:
all my lights together :top: (how sad am i even with the ford badge in the middle )
mission of today was to start work on the new rear number plate light...
i wanted to stand out a be a bit different to every other RS Turbo/mk4 escort out there and do a lot of subtle touches to the car...the first being the number plate light...my new one is off a Saph Cossie...and the main problem switching them is this:
the new holder is considerably smaller than the old one so i had to think of a way to make a reducer panel but at the same time retain standard lines and looks...i was told to use cardboard by someone  but instead i opted for something a bit more solid...so with the cut out from my front bumper...i cut up a small section so i could fit it into the hole where the current light is
once that was cut to the right size...i cut out the section for the light to squeeze into
then cut a bit of the foam out from inside the bumper to allow the plastic to sit in there properly...then fibreglassed it into place...im not too sure if this will crack or anything like that but only time will tell :top:
tomo ill finish that off and start to prep the front wings

fezz r...wanted to be different on the exterior front lol...not the engine...engine will be a similar spec to carisma daves except a few different touches here and there
the main aim from the car was to make it stand out from every other rs turbo (looks wise) butt he touches HAD to be subtle and mainly something only an enthusiast will realise..i.e the rear number plate light, rear 1/4s etc
engine wise...i want 300+hp, 0-60 in VERY low 5's, 0-100 in 9's, 1/4 VERY low 13's or high 12's and top end of about 165mph in 1.25miles but i want it to climb MUCH higher when on an open run....175mph would be good
suspension...want the car to handle like its on rails! just like my Scirocco did!
brakes....just pray they stop me with the mad power

Whilst combatting rust, have you had a look around the tailgate window seal. Dad's mate's got a red S2, concours I'd have said, and it went rotten on the bottom half of tailgate, just around and below where the bottom of the glass sits. Worth checking as by all accounts it comes through once it's finished eating the inside...
Good luck with the respray Will probably be respraying the Capri sometime this year as I've noticed two or three specks of rust
