i noticed the spot welds on the inner pannel that the lower part of the valance joins to was very near the edge! am i best to reposition them ? removing was a bit of a pain as right on the edge too

I recommend bonding on the new panel. Just put a small tack weld on each leading edge by the wings then use sikaflex or similar for the rest, it will cut down the chance of future rust.

Put a tack either side on the leading edge where the factory sealer is usually applied - one at the top and one at the bottom, then a few tacks underneath. Seal the lapped joints :)

You have to grind a bit of the rear of the wing away, the wings aren't too bad really :)

yep a fairly good fit , and you mean grind away where it bolts up ? yeah thought that area was the problem........ what about getting the swag line straight?

You need to raise the wing slightly, it's hanging a little low in your photos. The pattern wings will never fit 100% so it's a case of getting the best compromise overall.

I've fitted them in the past and had to make quite a few minor adjustments, including up near the scuttle panle and inside the wing near the a pillar. You can get a pretty convincing result with a bit of work.

yep thats what i ment Hanging a bit low , i cant seem to move it up any more ? only way i can think of doing it putting the wing on a hardge edge and nocking the inner wing bit where it welds onto , so it lifts the rest up?

You just need to see where it's binding and grind it away. Don't touch the car, it's all 'factory', it's the wing that's the problem.

It's a few things really;
- Most of the Mk3's have rotted away
- A lot of those that didn't were sacrificed in the scrappage scheme
- The mk3 is now considered too old and unsafe by many parents to be a first car
- Original owners have moved on

There's only a few people like us who are crazy enough to bother with them :lol:

Nearly there! It needs pulling in a little so it sits more flush with the door, but you're 95% there :D

this is the other side , not the drivers side as previosly posted up, what bit you mean need pulling in , as in the door gap or whole wing needs to "push in closer "

Yes the whole wing needs to sit closer to the car, the panel gap is already good.
