Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 20-7-2010 - standard genuine exhaust!
not really much as ive had 2 major operations now. but have another rare find, genuine ford fiesta rs turbo exhaust, its the larger backbox they came with and is the middle section furthest to the left and the backbox you can see. done about 1000 miles in dry weather, not the cheapest but worth it!
not sure what to do with the original i had in the middle that came with the car, could be sold at the right price but there like rocking horse s**t to find . there was a leak in the roof that dripped onto the exhaust and you can see the rust on the silencer but overall its still in really good nick with the stickers still

Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 2-11-2010 - new goodies
new oil cooler hose fitted as my old one started to leak, not exactly the same but fits fine! also chucked in a new temperature sender and the car will idle much better now, 25mm socket was a Bic™ to find for it though!
genuine new non ABS brake fluid resivoir for when i get round to removing the ABS etc...
had some numberplates made up again, much better than the previous ones, still has the plastic protecting film on so they still look a bit dull, will look great when the film is taken off.
couple of ebay finds for spares really, new HT lead and standard radio, quite hard to find now! i have 3 of these radios now

Yep, confirmed. The newer radio came in with the phase 2 cars (1992 MY, with Cat's for most of the range and Door mounted window switches)

going to have to disagree with you there, mines a 1991 and has the 2006 radio.
maybe 1990 models and poss very early 91's came with the olkder type like rob has got, but it deffo wasnt 92 on for the 2006 one

MY 92 = August 1991 onwards.
If yours isn't a MY92 with window switches in the door bins then someone changed the radio at some point, not uncommon on something like a Turbo as everyone seemed to fit an aftermarket radio at some point.
I've got all the brochures back home, but a few are online:
1990 FRST - 2005 RDS - Phase 1 car - 1990-rs-range-ed-2-fiesta-rs-turbo-brochure-vt160815/
1991 Bonus - 2005 RDS - Phase 1 car - 1991-fresco-brochure-vt160600/
1992 Flight - 2006 RDS - Phase 1 car but 92 MY (i.e. Grey dash but window switches in the door bins) - 1992-flight-brochure-vt165863/
1992 RS1800 - 2006 RDS - Phase 2 car - 1992-rs-range-ed1-rs1800-brochure-vt160605/

Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 2-11-2010 - new goodies
nope, no ones changed the radio mate.
got the correct radio book for the 2006 radio, its got the same dealer stamps etc on it as the other handbooks that came with the car, and the code was the same as the one in the book also.
even though brochures may show and list different things, you got to admit, its not uncommon for ford to do odd ball things.
my RS has a build date of august or september 91, cant remember off the top of my head, but its one of them, so its not a early 91

If the car is September 91 then it should have the 2006 mate, that's as it should be.
Does it have window switches in the centre console? The changeover date for window switches must have been very late in 1991.

Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 2-11-2010 - new goodies
Interesting this, to be totally honest i didn't know the 2006 radio was put in the Fiesta turbo, thought it was just the RS1800 so i've learnt something there. Mine's an August 1990 registered car tho and definatly should have had the earlier stereo. It's defo the same as the 90-spec series 2 stereo, i had one on my old standard series 2 that i sold when i got my Fiesta The difference there is whether or not the first owner specified the upgrade sound system or not, with the amp at the bottom of the dash etc

Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 2-11-2010 - new goodies
Just to shed a bit more light on these darn Radios.....
In the Autocar magazine feature that i have got, dated 17 April 1991, the Merc Grey"G" reg FRST test car, has a Ford 2005 radio cassette fitted. (same as the escort RS Turbo)
Both cars appear in my Ford RS Brochures aswell ..Edition 2 1990, and edition 1 1991, with this 2005 unit fitted.
In the 1991 edition 2 ( later) Ford brochure ,the Black FRST is fitted with the 2006 RDS radio!!
It does depend on which month the cars left the dealership, as mine is a 1991 car but wasnt sold until 26th March 1992, and came with the 2006 radio. If it had left the ford forecourt in earlier 1991 days after it arrived, it would of had the 2005 unit!!
Some J plate mk3 fiestas have the grey door bins with electric window switches fitted and others have the switches in the centre!! As mentioned before, Ford did do things differently between franchises...for instance my frst has the black rs1800 centre gear surround fitted from new and others have the grey one!!!
Ive also seen black door handles aswell as bins fitted to one frst, with grey dash and cards!!! although it could have been done by a previous owner..... he stated tho, "its been untouched by elderly first owner" !!!!
I guess wel never know!!!!!

Very interesting read mate
I've got the first Fiesta Turbo brochure, 1990 edition 2 (as per my car) but haven't got the 1991 one with the black car and later stereo, will keep an eye out for one of those ............. i did notice the bit about door handles tho, mine are black with the grey cards and door bin. Does that mean they have ben changed? Never noticed this before!

Re: 47k fiesta rs turbo - 2-11-2010 - new goodies
Quite possibly they might have been changed.
When ford made the RS1800 and other mk3.5 fiestas, they altered them by supplying the black dash, door bins, handles and door cards aswell as parcel shelf and rear plastics, aswell as lastly the carpet. These have always been black.
The Turbos should really all have the grey plastics fitted although a friend of mine said to me that if certain parts werent available when the car was built, some "rougue" later parts were fitted in order to shift the old car stock in time for the new 3.5 fez!!!
As mentioned, my FRST is dated 26-3-92 and had the later centre gear console plastic in black and all the rest in grey..I bought a few mint grey ones bought 10 years ago...just in case there is a def answer to this querey, and i need to change it.
Ive just also maybe laid my hands on a gen Ford Cellphone as pictured in the later brochure, complete with rear ford beesting arial and all wiring
SORRY TO HIJACK YOUR THREAD ROB...I DO GO ON!!!!!!!

Black centre console was standard on the last of the line yep, and the door card vinyl pattern changed just before this happened.
