500 to Spend??

Postby mmorgan88 on Sat Dec 02, 2006 1:38 pm

I have got around 500 to spend on a decent audio set up. At the moment i have a JVC headunit (the one with the interchangeable facia plates that came with the awful fire one) which im planning on keeping everything else i want to change. Im into RnB tracks and that sort of music.

I was thinking components and a sub but im pretty awful at audio, but do enjoy my music.

It will be originally for my fiesta but then moved into my ford puma which i should be getting in april. Any Advice people?

I'd go for some alpime type-r components up front, had for about £100. Amp these with an ok ish amp, £100. You can get an alpine type-r 500rms 12" sub for about £120 and another £150 should get you a decent amp to power it. The rest is for cabling. I'm not so good at amp, hence not giving names of any!

Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

I would spend about £100 on some good components, i would recommend these:

I can't recommend this sub highly enough as i have it!! But i have a custom tuned box that fills the boot!! (Bargain at £90)

And to run the components:

And to run the sub:

Don't be afraid to mix and match things as different brands give better quality aspects of a system.
Also, steer clear of Sony/Kenwood in my opinion, spend a bit more and get quality that will last. I think the above is well in budget giving you enough change for a wiring kit and a good box to the sub, so as to get the best out of the amp and the sub.
