I want to go really low though, preferably on the standard shocks but I’m willing to see what other possibilities are on the market.

With new standard dampers you can drop it 30mm safely and it will handle nicely. 60mm drop on stock shocks is too much. I know this as mine is currently dropped on -55mm springs on new standard FRST shocks. It's just a bit too low and isn't that nice to drive, it is better than standard ride height though and as I had the springs in my spares bin it seemed a shame not to use them. 35mm springs and Koni T/A shocks are on my shopping list for over the show season :)

TomRS1800 :Buy some coilovers

Unless he is planning on taking the car on track a lot coilovers are completely OTT.

Would love coilovers but im not willing to shell out that much money. Anu ideas of packages the for springs and say 50mm shocks etc.

From personal experience I have always found Koni top adjustables to work very well. iirc their kits are about the £400 mark but are just about as good as you can get. Spax are also pretty damn good but I've found the damping to be a little too heavy.
