7 Shades...Im Back..16/10/14
7 Shades...UPDATE 21/5/13 IM GUTTED x2
Fraggle :Done an add mate, trouble is it was tinted and heated screen
sadly mate in done with it, pics for her listing to be done this weekend, cba chasing dead ends, may even cut itup for panels tbh,get something back then
Cut it up for panels cause you're missing a screen and a couple of arches?? Why the hell would you do that? It's a genuine RS, it needs to be on the road, plenty of 1.1's out there for panels!!

Re: 7 Shades...UPDATE 21/5/13 IM GUTTED x2
can you even get a tinted front screen?
my heated ones clear (sides and back are green)
you'd most likely regret breaking/selling up big time!

My screen is green!! So i guess you can find them!! I think maybe just put it on hold, leave it in the garage, forget about it and in time you will become excited about the car again and just finish it

Re: 7 Shades...Monster Milestone 4/2/13
So where to start.. 4/2/13
well 1st excuse pics, on my Lumia, and i wernt getting it dirty
Well the FRS idea is a go'er, BUT not before i had given this old girl the seal of fate.
So broke out the RO-JIG, took some fiddling to get set, but then we got busy digging..
Shiiiiiiiiiit me wax when it went over, previous keeper didnt like hoovering it thats a fact, bits o s**t flew everywhere..
So once over we started abit of digging, she's had some comedy work done in past..
Literally glued the corner sections on, tossers
All 4 strut tops are solid..
Both wing bottoms again just blu tacked on basically
The next lot are just randoms, She is soooooooooooooo filthy and cosmetically battered, BUT its so far( ) seriously solid, few little odds an sods but it really does look worse than it is..My mate was shocked being as its a Mk3
Filth..
Pure primer..
Note the bolts, cleanest bits tbh..FAO Eddie i want £50 each for em, genuine paint that
Nicely bent..have got newun..
Wax plug/end of sill..bit missing
Gonna be fun..
So thats it for now..
Cant thank my homie pete enough for all his help since friday, he's a legend
Also a massive Thanks to Member Sleeman for the screen, its mint and is a life saver till/if a Gen screen can be sourced, YOUR A GENT fella, and a Top chap of a character, was a pleasure to meet you fella
So wotcha's reckon??
Now do i save her or not..

SAVE HER
Most of your problem is going to be time. And that spit you have just made it a hell of a lot easier. You'll beat knuckles car to restoration anyway.

Just [ERRR] the thread hasn't been updated, don't think think it hasn't progressed some
Anyway onto your car, save her for sure mate, even though I know your gunna find bits along the way you can't see now, it looks to be a very good shell and deffo worth saving.
Seeing the underside brings back when I done mine and Clarks, not a nice job to do I gotta say, and even though all the time and effort that's put in seems wasted as its never seen (and in mine, and Clarks case it's painted black not body colour) it doesn't stand out as different enough once finished lol, but still a good feeling knowing its done though.
Your be ok with it though fella, once you clean all the crud off the car will look 100 times better just for that.
Look forward to seeing this progress mate, I'm sure it won't take anywhere near as long as Clarks is taking me, but then again I took Clarks on as he's a real good mate and he knew from the start it would be worked on as when etc

Re: 7 Shades...Monster Milestone..4/2/13
Cheeeeeeeeeers fella's
Right More progress..
As youve seen from previous update she is rough so hopefully you fella's will see a difference
Cost me a pair of trackies,t-shirt,socks,40 tea towels,box o gloves,10litre's of thinners,and a heat gun(hence still some left to do )...
Decided that whatever happens im going to find all the bad bits 1st, so time to get filthy.
Reason im stripping every bead of sealer EVERYWHERE is because im toying with getting her blasted, although i might just get the compressor, bare metal it with a DA then buy a hand held recirc blaster for the nooks/crannies..
So my plans to put the elbow grease in thus maybe save time/money if i have her blasted.
Dunno which way im goin yet but for sure its gonna be bare metaled top to toe
So here is the WORST of it all...so far
So just the rear under carriage to do, remove the spare wheel brackets too then on i'll go.
How she looks now and for now..
Least the vin's solid/original lol
Thinks this next one sums it up..
Next one looks horrific..it aint at all ive already had the sill end off..(will pic up next update)
Insides getting stripped..
Gonna have this out an put a cat flap in..
Couple of new fuel lines needed me thinks
Right thats it not much exciting but im one who loves this bit the most, dirt=work so bring it i say..
The Body is my ONLY priority so gonna be alot more of this s**t, just got to get a quote for blasting then of to B-shops to see who got the minerals to paint her good........

Dude, from what I see that hardly needs much repair work, so it's far from rough fella.
Keep up the good work, no slacking, and I expect to see it complete this time next week

Fair play mate I know what ya mean about over doing it, tbh unless your planning on Concorse is it worth the hassle of trying to get small dents out the chassis rails etc...

Pies while driving
Sorry mr frag we have to dock you a point as there half a steak and kidney pie in the door pocket
Red oxide for what fella?
I used red oxide spray primer on different areas, Clark got spray can happy and done all the inner arches with the stuff and the front reinforcer, and I used bits here and there while doing the inside of the car.
If your thinking of the underside of the car, I used a hand paint zinc phosphate primer for that, although it can be thinned down and spray one, hitch I should of done really as it felt like it too a age to hand paint on lol.
I will be getting some more of that too when I prime his brand new fuel tank.
What I will say thou, is the stuff I used I'm sure it was cellulose based, so if you use it and plan on painting 2k on top it might not like it,
However, I can't remember if its cellulose painted on 2k that reacts, or 2k paint on cellulose, but I hand painted this stuff on, it dried for a while before i got round to stone chipping the underside and it was all fine, but then again the stone chip was single stage so prob cellulose based too lol
Prob of no interest to you, but when I come to do the xr2 I'm thinking of using upon bed liner, everything I've read up and looked at about it seems to confirm that it's bloody good stuff! Might be worth you looking into that if your interested in it?

Re: 7 Shades...Im Back..4/11/13
Well im back
For how long, well time will tell, AND THE DECISION will be made.
The reason for the absense well as always the old dog were just getting on top of me, the usual issue's re parts, time, need for a vehicle blah blah so what to do was my plan...
Well i done this..
Now as in love as i am with it, there a distinct lack of wooooooooosh ptsssssh, and shades do fill that neash very well, well did fill it very well
But the above really does need a dry kennel so sadly i feel its time to move 7shades on.
BUT hoping that just maybe i'll be aquiring a weder soon..........
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i hate my life

I love fords so I can accept it lol
I just hope the mk2 focus don't suffer with the same problem as the mk1 where it wears the inside of the rear tyres (common fault so I'm told)
Ah so the fez may still be reborn....

Re: 7 Shades...Im Back..4/11/13
I genuinely want too save her, tbh i just don't think financially its justifiable, frst parts are taking piss to find and pay for.
on the tyre note jay, so far in 3weeks its had 1alignment, 4balance sessions, broke fuel cap, broke seatbelt adjuster,
lol only got 57k on it on a 56.
id deffo put "good rubber on it", and the mountune cat back is a propper addition to the pop pop factor lol.
but it just don't give you the raw buzz of the old turbo, but its 100times better everywhere else.
Deffo miss the wooooooooshing though...time for rs clutch/flywheel and stage 2 map an cooler lol.

Lol your just being picky now lol still if you wanna swap it for a push bike with flat tyres, torn saddle and no reflectors, BUT with the spokies and a couple of kelloggs bike reflectors I'm sure we can do a deal, maybe some cash my way as the refectors are vintage you know

Fraggle :I genuinely want too save her, tbh i just don't think financially its justifiable, frst parts are taking piss to find and pay for.
At the end of the day - no, it's not financially justifiable. Having said that, the rarity of the FRST nowadays would probably fetch quite a bit when its finished, but even to know that you've put another one back on the road. Scrapping it is the easy way out, definitely not the option I'd take.

Use a MK5 one... surely it doesn't have to be as original as that, many FRST's have fuel flaps now due to the rust issues.
