710 cap?

Postby dontpannic on Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:09 am

Hi guys, got a bit of a problem.

I was working under the car when a cap fell out from the engine bay, I've looked to see where it would have come from but can't find it. Anyone know where the 710 cap goes on a 1.25 Zetec engine? Looks like this one:

Cheers in advance.

Damn. Nobody's as gullible as I thought  Even the mods knew it was a joke . Its the same shape as my oil cap but the cap has an image rather than 710 printed on it

1.25 isn't really a Zetec engine though, it's a Sigma

Quite a bit I think. Sigmas were built between Yamaha and Mazda. I think I even heard someone say the inlet & exhaust manifolds are on opposite sides too but tbh I've never seen one in the flesh to say lol.

1.25 is a Zetec-SE according to Haynes.

Ollie :1.25 is a Zetec-SE according to Haynes.
That's what Ford branded it as but it doesn't technically belong to the "Zeta" engine family. It's the same with those "Zetec" diesels lol.

Google "Ford Sigma," you'll see what I mean ;)

Waynes correct.

Zetec-SE / Sigma was built between Ford and yamaha to be a high revving, lightweight engine (fail!*) Available in 1.25, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7. FItted to Mk4/5 Fiesta and the Puma.

The manifolds are the other way around, yes. But that is just better when it comes to TB's
Also the new Duratecs are this way around too.. :P

* Fail because after a lot of 'high revving' the bottom end will just 'disintegrate' on the smaller 1.25 and 1.4 engines
