abs removal opinions?

Postby GavStyli on Mon Jan 07, 2008 12:08 am

looking to have mine removed soon (maybe) but id like some first hand opinions of people that have driven a frst with abs and the then without.
ive had it for 10 years, i sometimes like it and sometimes hate.
biggest prob is if im breaking normaly and hit a bump, the abs kicks in. car breaks slightly harder on 1 side which is strange (probably got nothing to do with the abs system!)
im used to it now lol but maybe im too used to it that id hate it without  :aaah:
any opinions/advise would be great:)

although it is an old system there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it. as ive seen test videos of it on ice and it worked like an absolute charm just when its on the road it seems like the mechanical system is a bit slow for road use.

The system the Fiesta mk3 uses is far too dated, and far too simple. The Fiesta mk3 ABS system hardley works under 20 MPH, so how is that useful on ice?

The ABS system is absolute s**t. I've binned it from my S2 (same system) and the brake feel was transformed. It's a must do mod imho. It kicks in so early it's untrue and then takes forever to pukse and remove braking effort and reapply, by time it's finished pissing about you might as well have skidded to a stop.

Sorry to sound funny.

Im guessing you were probably watching an ECU controlled electronic system in use on the Ice.
