Actuator help?

Postby festaturbo on Mon May 20, 2002 7:27 pm

I brought an uprated fiesta turbo actuator today and put it on the car and set the boost to peak at 13psi and hold at 12psi. The bloke in the shop was on about a 3mm preload? could someone explain what preload is?

Also i have no amal valve. I have a pipe from the turbo to the actuator is this rite? Or should it go from the actuator to the side of the inlet manifold and blank the turbo outlet.

yup lockwire the bung thats on the inlet manifold onto the turbo outlet, then run a pipe from the actuator upto the the inlet manifold where u took the bung off+lockwire them aswell, all of the vac/boost lines should be lockwired in case they blow off.. Just stick it on and set the boost up..

The actuator i brought was the uprated fiesta turbo actuator. I t had 14psi written on it. Its set 2 peak at 13 and hold at 12 which it does nicely but ive noticed a bit more turbo lag, is this normal? I set it to a preload of 3mm but boosted well over a bar so i wound it down. The turbo starts spinning at 3000rpm but really kicks hard just b4 4000rpm.
