Actuator please help??!!

Postby festaturbo on Fri Jul 05, 2002 8:02 pm

Im running 1bar of boost pressure, i brought an uprated actuator, it had 14psi written on it. You have to wind the actuator rod quite far back to get the coorect boost. So now you dont have to pull the rod end over the arm on th turbo it will jus slip on. Also there seems 2 be more turbo lag? My mate has an uprated actuator the chrome bolt together type. He's running 1bar and his has more lag aswell. Is there something wrong?????? Please help dont know wheter safe or not.

well, mine goes.... if it slips on then the waste gate arm the weaker the boost, where as if ya need to tug the actuator arm to get it on the wastegate then the boost will get higher....

i think that makes sense

Hello,
Not posted for a while so i thought id help you out on this one.

The wastegate actuator absolutely must have a minimum of 2mm preload to work correctly or the wastegate may be destroyed by vibration.

The bottom line here is the actuator you have been sold is far to strong for your car.

For a reasonable explanation of what an actuator does, see this page on my site to save my fingers ;)
