Adjusting brake Bias (after full disc conversion)

Postby Jur on Wed Oct 02, 2002 4:50 pm

I've read the article from Fast Ford. I 'ordered' the parts needed, but i've got a question about it.

How do i adjust the break bias (front rear ratio)

The bias valves you are talking about are actually load sensors and are fitted under the rear of the car above the beam. As a car is loaded up it drops lower and the valves adjust to allow more rear braking effect. Adjusting these valves can increase/decrease rear braking effect. The best way to do it is to find a friendly MOT place and set them up using the brake testing equipment.

They aren't actually load sensors mate. The load sensors were only fitted to cars with ABS and were situated above the rear beam as you said.

The valves under the battery tray are however brake bias valves. There are three types and only one is adjustable (if I remember correctly) If they are large grey ones together ona bracket I believe these can be adjusted with a spanner.

If theya re screwed into the master cylinder then they are fixed.
