Adverts

Postby AdrianFRST on Tue Dec 27, 2005 11:41 am

You might have noticed adverts appearing at the bottom of each page. I'm experimenting with various methods as a means of helping towards the running cost of the site. At the moment there is a difference of over £100 a month between what I get from the sponsors (XFMS, Auto Specialists etc) and the hosting costs.

They should only show ads relevant to the content of the pages and they are likely to change position over the next few days until I find the most unintrusive place.

If you don't like them you can use ad blocking software or add pagead2.googlesyndication.com to your hosts file.

There's also some eBay banners on the main site (and will prob be in the for sale forums on here too).

Used to make so much money off of them mate. 3 clicks is about $25 with the hosting ads, loan ones also make a lot.

Anyway :aviator:

As much as I dislike them, I understand it's all part and parcel of such a popular website. Just shows what an institution ft.com has become in the Ford & Fiesta world. :)

Arghh just had a set of Citroen Sxo ads appear on a Fiesta site! :o

Yeah I think everyones used to it really, most forums tend to do it.

Just don't make a premium service which you charge for please, they really frustrate me!

So this is what people have been ranting on about over MSN the last few days! "Fooking Google ads" this and "Facking Google ads" that! Now we know why they're here, I'm sure people will grow to love them like a small child :)

Donation will be made when my bloody Paypal account will work again! :-?

AdrianFRST :It's too soon to say if they are going to be worthwhile. Some ads are per impression, some are per click.
