After Market Suspension

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby timb551 on Tue Apr 02, 2002 12:11 pm

Im going to lower my 16v XR2i. I was thinking of -60mm on G-MAX shocks and springs. Ive got a few of questions.

Firstly does this sound like a good idea ?

Secondly ive heard you cannot replace after market shocks individually, so if one goes wrong i have to replace them all.

And lastly would brand new standard shocks cope with -60mm springs?

cheers everyone

should be ok mate, personaly i wouldnt lower a car that far on standard shocks, but if u buy urself the spring/damper package ull be fine.

You might be able to buy individual dampers/springs direct from the manufacturer.

What size are ur wheels? any arch work done?

60mm drop looks sweet on nething m8   BUT u have to make sure u defo aviod things like pot holes in the middle of the road etc! oh and u might have to watch how many people u have in the car as well!

As for the replaceing shocks question, yes u can replace shock indiviually, or if not one at a time, then u have to buy them in pairs...

shocks wise, ur best changing to uprated shortened shocks as the other ones will bottom out toooooooo quick!

hope this helps

Cheers guys.

No work done yet, the car has turned into a project car. Im wanting to put it on 16's so hopefully that will be mangeable.

The car will be off the road for about a year, when i will have £1k to spend on engine mods and the suspension.

Lowering your car -60mm on 16's will mean you need to get your arches done, i get rubbing on 15's.

I use Spax PSX kit and it has lowered my car by -60mm.

Do not use std shocks when lowering that low, you will knacker the shocks in no time.

Cheers Fezzy

I have decided to go for a -40mm drop to compromise.

Could someone tell me what sort of BHP figures ill be expecting from these mods.

2.0 litre Throttle Body
Cam
Chip
Exhaust
De-Cat Pipe
Induction Kit.

cheers

Evening lads. The quote was from Larkspeed so get purchasing

Ive got 14" Fox 1 wheels at the moment. Dont look to bad but fancy a bit bigger and a few more spokes. Something like OZ Superleggara (or however its spelt) at least that style. Maybe not OZ's cause they cost a mint but someting similar.

Anyone fancy a spax psx shock and spring kit -60mm?????? I'm selling mine. only covered 1.5k before the car was written off. Perfect condition but needs one new front shock (around £35 new from the fiesta centre). Looking for about £90.

Cheers
