aftermarket rev counter
What rev counters are people using? Am running ofab in my mk2 and am not getting the rev counter working properly. (Half revs and all that)
Have tried wiring my xr2 one to the edis and have tried running 2 wires from the coil with diodes but to no avail.
Sick of messing about and figured it would be easier to find an aftermarket one that wires into the existing loom.

Re: aftermarket rev counter
Most aftermarket ones have switchable inputs, my mate with an XR2 is running Stack gauges. I've got a Racetech one in my RS.
Racetech manual can be found here. Which shows the two possible inputs and how to select the cylinder count and for wasted spark.
I'm currently having issues with mine on the blk/white input fed from MS ECU as it doesn't seem to make any difference what Cyl# I select or changing full>half speed on ECU output, so am about to try swapping to the red/blue one. Worst case I will run the red/blue off one side of the coil pack.
Hopefully you have more luck than I am...

Re: aftermarket rev counter
There was a great guide about differences between MK3 fiesta's rev counters. Too bad I can no longer find it.
There are some models where you get an V, an E, another letter (forgot which one) and also no marking at all.
I remember the V is for the lower end models, means "vendetta" (codename for the HCS engine, if I recall well).
But as far as I remember the guide just said "use matching rev counter" and I'm not sure it instructed how to fix if we got the wrong match. But there were a mention about the half counting issue. Probably the switchable inputs in the aftermarket rev counters is what you need.
A pity the website is nowhere else to be found. It had nice dashboard pictures of the different variations of revvos.
Hope this helps in some way! Sorry if it does not help much.
