Yea they are quality amps from what iv heard.
As for matching the power I didnt quite understand [ERRR] you said...whats the RMS of both the sub and amp, and what voicecoil config. does the sub have?

sub and amp

Postby fiestamodder123 on Sat Jun 24, 2006 11:06 am

hi,
my sub is a single voice coil (1 p+/-) on the back sub says on the cone that its 1000watts but i know thats a peak figure (jbl)

i also have 10" infinity that is rated at 1250 watts max and 25o rms

i also have a 10" kenwood that is rated at 200 watts rms

i s**t 12" type vrX sub thats rated at 250watts rms

1 blaupunkt 10" thats rated at 250 watts rms (i tried to kill this by running about a 1000watts rms through it with my mate vibe mono amp and it took it for 3 weeks and still doesn't smell funny

which sub do you rekon i should use with this amp to get the most posible bass

thanks

Good question, TBh I havnt heard any of them (i dont know the model numbers) even then I wouldnt, TBH Inifinity 'generally' speaking are more SQ than SPL, Kenwood havnt a clue JBL are from what iv heard pretty bassy in a ported enclosure...you are going ported right? Sealed wont get enough bass especially since your underpowering the subs, since ported is more sensitive to power IIRC.
As for impedence I meant 4ohms or 2ohms :)

subs????

Postby fiestamodder123 on Sun Jun 25, 2006 10:02 am

all the subs i have are in sealed enclosures and im not sure about box volumes and things to get another ported box made up, i do have a 12" ported box but its an old box from around the time when everyone was running 15" "TORNADO subs with paper cones and reading revs thinking it was "SORTED" and it really is pooy ,might even be home made  oh and it rattles , all i want is hooooooge amounts of Bass on a budget , oh and i have an alpine headunit ,cant remember the model but its got a 4v sub out and a motorised face was about £500 3years ago

thanks

If you want huge bass, ported is the only way to go im afraid...get yourself a copy of winisd and have a little play around, and design your own box if not i'll giv you an idea of the sort of dimensions you would need :Q

porting

Postby fiestamodder123 on Sun Jun 25, 2006 3:22 pm

is it possible to port one of my existing boxes , if so what would be the deciding factor on the sizes and depth of the ports? I will need to take some measurements off of the box i already have and work out the volume of the box,the box i have is just a basic 12" sub box from my local motor factors think its made by XL or something like that was about £30 (same one that hellfrauds try and sell you if you buy a 12" sony pentagon sub.

Thanks

It would be more trouble than its worth IMO to convert the box, if you want I can design a ported box, if you give me the model make and number then i'll have a look, if not dont worry :)
