Any phone geeks out there? Random question.
Well, i have had my phone for ages now, and when i got it, it was originally a phone on the company '3' (its got the 3 logo on the bottom on the phone), and it didnt need unlocking, so i put my O2 simcard in and off i went.
On my phone (oh yea its a sony ericsson w910i) there are 2 shortcut buttons under the screen which say (left) Launcher, (right) Planet 3. Also in the menu, it has a Planet 3 icon for internet, and he launcher button has a 3 logo. I was wondering if anyone knows how to restore these to like normal settings.
As you can see here....
The standby screen normally looks like this:
And the menu would look like this: (couple of different icons, but you get the jist)
Also the startup screen has the 3 logo.
So what can i do to reset all this so its back to how it would be out the factory kinda thing? If it can be done at all.
It doesnt bother me 100%, was just curious thats all lol.
BTW, changing the theme doesnt affect the shortcut buttons or main menu logos (the 3 icon and that)

I'd be surprised if you could change those things as the phone will have been sent to "3" for them to then put their own software and bits and pieces on it
Only thing would be to see if you can flash the operating system it uses and flash it to an O2 version, not sure if this is even possible on this type of phone though !!

Try that.
Although if it's like the Nokia one's you'll have to find some way of changing the phone's internal "phone code" to a generic one instead of an operator branded one. Then it'll install the generic unbranded firmware.

Yeah I thought it probably would.
My Nokia did the same originally, I had to find out what the generic phone code was and then use some firmware editing tool to change it on the phone. After that the updater offered me the latest version of the generic firmware instead.

Take a look at the SE-NSE forums. You have to re-flash the firmware with some un-customised stuff.
Usually, SE-NSE can supply info to debrand and update to latest firmware using the bundled DCU-60 USB cable, however the DaVinciTeam, although it costs (not much) can debrand and unlock the phone I think using the default cable. With my K750 I managed addon applications without using Java, various hacks, unlocked and got rid of O2 branding - also managed to flash it with w800 firmware so I got the Walkman media player.

hope this provides some direction

The SEUS will only update the phone to the latest branded firmware, however DaVinci and others can flash with generic firmware without branding.
