Anyone changed the air filter on a diesel Festa?

I want to know if I'd notice any difference by changing the air filter on a diesel Fiesta....basically I want a bit more power for not much cash! Any ideas? Anyone done one before? :-?

Possible - same principles apply to all forms of induction although I wouldn't expect any noticeable difference in power or noise.

Probably better to save the money for a petrol engine conversion :)

 Cheers for the "advice" lol Don't think £42 will cover a petrol conversion, but hey.

just stick a new halfords jobbie in - chances are your existing filter is now black with muck so a new one will make quite a difference.

Its a mk3, right? I've put a K&N panel on my old mk3 D and I didn't notice anything at all... at least until my mechanic altered the fuel pump settings. He advanced the injection point and added a bit more fuel and the final results were very pleasant. The car felt a bit livelier and the fuel consumption didn't raise noticeably. I only kept the car for about 15K after that so I can't really say if it affected reliability.

The bottom line is if you are after a bit of extra performance, be sure to have the fuel pump tweaked by an expert in order to take full advantage of the higher air flow. It doesn't cost much and the results are good.
