Anyone else found the CAB useless?

Postby abbasar2000 on Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:28 am

Its always jam packed in there and making an appointment there is over 3 weeks waiting.

Basically got made redundant last November and living along in a ensuite bedsit with kitchen facilities costing me £400 per month.

As im under 25 council will only pay £66.00 per week on housing benefit, so on average i have to find, despite being unemployed, around £130 per month, i get around £100 Jobseekers allowance every 2 weeks, so if i paid my rent in full, id have about £60 to last me the month, which is quite frankly not easy to live on really without going all out peasant style, i do have class, and standards and even though times are hard im still struggling, and no luck with work whatsoever.

Got a letter shoved through the door this morning, as ive tried my best and paid whatever i could on top of what the council gave me, and i owe my landlord over a grand, and theyve told me if the situation doesnt improve within the next month i will be asked to vacate the premises...

Surely they just can't kick me out? for one, i dont have to rent book all i have is a 4 pieces of paper with my rent arrears on, and i reckon theyve added or worked it out wrong by a couple of hundred quid.. where do i stand in all this? anyone know?

Is why a lot of CAB functionality is being resourced into (moved to) CLACs; the lassaiz faire attitude perpetuated within the CAB (and indeed, most of the social and civil services in the UK) has caused the government to re-evaluate how services are delivered to the populace. While CLACs have been a long time coming, ultimately they will work out to be better for the ordinary Joe simply because the people who work there give a s**t about their job and don't see it as doing the people in need a personal favour. :aviator:
