anyone else getting rinsed on sporty cars??

Postby paniK on Sat May 20, 2006 1:18 pm

hey all, ive been shopping roudn for insurance and i dont know how the hell others on here manage to insure themselves first drivers on cars like XR2i and Si pretty cheap cos everywhere i look they rip my arms and legs off!! i've looked at a corsa 1.4 SRi (group6) 1.6 GSi and fiesta Si 16V which are both group 8 and they're all rinsing me! i dont want to put my dad first cos i want my own no claims so i can get something decent in the near future. but why in the hell am i getting quoted £2K on a corsa 1.4 no ncb and other with similar situations are gettin quoted £900-£1400 fist drivers no ncb?

whats the trick????

i can get insured on a frst at £2k on my dad first so might as well get that the way its going!!

most people i kno my age get 1.0, 1.2 cars that are new so they pay £4k-£5k maybe more on new cars. i'd rather pay £1500 odd on a decent rst and give the rest to the insurance rather than go for new 1.0 or 1.2?

any help much appreciated!

i put things like pass plus, garaged an cat 1 alarm/immob too which i'm planning on all doing anyway!!!

new cars are usually cheaper to insure so not sure where £4-5k come from :aaah:

new driver + sporty car = uber expensive.

on your own its pricy - a 1.3 fez was the same price for me, but now i pay 1500 on an xr2 and im 17 :P (thanks mum lol) - to be honest its best to go on your parents for year, the savings work out the same

tweek, i mean they are paying 4-5k to buy the car plus whatever £800-£900 a year to insure it. i'm saying i'd rather buy an rst or an Si or somethin like that, pay £1000-£1500 to buy it and another £1500 or so maybe more to insure it.

Try norwich union and quote pass plus and they knock off 30%, im sure that will help. Dont get insured on the back of your parents becuase if the insurance company find out they wont pay out!
