ANYONE fitted ST170 Front Brakes to A Fiesta Before?

Postby jimmyesh on Fri Dec 22, 2006 2:21 pm

Has anyone fitted the front brake setup from an st170 to a mk3 fiesta before and know the sizes required for spacers etc.

I've just bought some ST170 Front calipers from the scrappy and am getting new 300mm discs and pads to go with them and just wanted to know if a guide's been done or if anyone's done this before? :-?

Also the car I got the front brakes off still has the rear 280mm discs, calipers AND hubs (same as the focus RS 280mm fitted to mine in members gallery) so if your interested Call Autobreak in Colchester on 01206 791144.
The bloke there can charge a bit but you can haggle him down!

Also I got some wilwood 4 pots and 280mm front discs for fiesta mk3 including brackets, PM me if interested.

Cheers, Jimmy.

Hey jimmy, I've had this conversion for a while now but not sure what you mean about spacers for it??

I just got the hub drilled out from 10mm to 12mm where the caliper bolts go as these use larger bolts.

Is that all you have to do- Just Drill the holes where the caliper mount bolts to the hub carrier from 10mm-12mm? Do they need tapping or are they just drilled through and use a nut on the otherside?

Not been near the car today and the calipers are still in the boot of my focus (lazy sod, "under-the-thumb" with the missus and all that  )

I just heard things about spacers that's all, Do the calipers just bolt straight up with the 12mm holes then? if so even better :Q

Not loads mate, about £100 no offers! I'll post some pics.
(I'm thinking of putting them on ebay yet though...)

They work fine but aren't immaculate like new, the discs aren't that worn and they have Poly Q pads from rally design.

They are briliant for progressive fade-free braking but don't have the same "instant bite" you get from normal road car brakes (better suited to track-day beasts), hence why I've gone for the st170 fronts. Rally design said the Poly Q pad's the most Road-friendly of it's range too, so I was running out of options. :-?

I paid £420+ vat for them from Rally Design

yeah, i thought like chum says, just drill out the bolt holes in the hub to accept 12mm bolts. the caliper carrier is theaded not the hub... so its litterally a bolt straight up job :D

Yeah wasn't over the moon with them for road use, they just didn't seem to have that "instant bite" of standard discs/pads, no matter what type of pad I ran them with. There was nothing physically wrong with them though.
The braking was nice and progressive though, no fade. Just wanted more bite for our immigrant-infested roads! :x

Just wanted something more road-friendly as my daily driver is a new focus tdci and the brakes on that are PHENOMENAL!! :o So evertime i drove the fez it was like the brakes were knackered! :aaah:
