Ashley Sports / Sportex Back Boxs

Seen these on eBay a few times now, and looking to buy something similar. Are these worth the money?? Anyone had any first hand experience with these and have any comments?
Exhausts, I think, are always a bit dodgy! Should check other peoples opinions out first!!
Also, as its only a back box it probably won't make any difference to performance at all but it should sound a bit nicer hopefully

I have an ashley 3" one, looks good, sounds pretty good when warmed up, well recommended, however I got it cheaper on potn.com. (only £80)

Re: Ashley Sports / Sportex Back Boxs
Depends what sound your after. Ashleys sound quite raspy and rallyish, Sportex sound really deep and mumble away on the overrun.
Both are mild steel as you know but I've had a Sportex and it lasted around 2 years before the baffles inside broke up and got spat out.

Re: Ashley Sports / Sportex Back Boxs
read some reviews, some people complained about the fitment to the mk4s saying it needed adjustment, and with just the back box it didn't make much difference but I don't believe the latter tbh.
At the moment, I'm thinking Ashley still.......

Won't make a blind bit of difference to performance but will make it sound a lot better. Nick's ashley box on his 1.25 (i think) sounds really good.

I second this, it won't rust away like an Ashley.

A mate of mine had an ashley on his Punto for 3+ years and it never showed signs of rusting. I have had mine for nearly a year now and when clean its still as spotless as the day I got it. Thats why its called Stainless Steel

Ashley exhausts are mild steel, thats why there powder coated black and alot cheaper. The only stainless steel on there is the exhaust tip.

Re: Ashley Sports / Sportex Back Boxs
The Sportex I had was made the same and that lasted less than 2 years before it rusted and the baffles let go. I believe Max ended up with a huge hole in his Hopefully Ashley last a bit longer, even more so because my manifold's Ashley
