Astra Headunit??

Postby Owen_watson_1.1 on Sun Nov 12, 2006 6:38 pm

So i just bought a 1996 1.4 Astra today as another run around and i had a spare headunit so i thought i would replace the tape deck for the cd .So after abouyt an hour of wrestling with it trying to get it ,

when i got it out i found out that the ISO block it stuck to the rear for example on a fiesta the block it loose on wires well this is right at the back of the dash.

Its hard to explain ill take a pic later.I just wanted to know if any one has very fitted a headunit to a mk3 Astra??

Thanks

Youll find that the ISO block is attached to the back of the metal cage. The cage needs to come out. There is usually a nut or screw in the middle at the back of the cage, undo this then squeeze the front down so you can pull it out of the dash. Then unclip the leads from the cage and you have a dash ready for a new headunit

Spot on. The radiod display screen will be blank but there is a way of getting it so it always displays the clock rather than trying to display radio info from a deck that isn't there

hi...

AAahhh just abit too late on this one,lol...Hhhhmmm....I did mine too, on my mk3 astra, Id never seen the iso etc like this, but I just ripped the old standard cage out & then it was obvious, I think it took me about 10 mins in total to replace the old stereo to a new one, although I was at the time replacing the little dash lights behind the heater controls - all the bulbs had blown???....so I got some blue LED ones now, looks ace...

glad ya got your sorted too...

Daz.
