AVO COILOVERS, WHEELS WONT GO ON??????
Hi all, bought some avo coilovers a while back, standard wheels go on fine, put esc cossy rims on and had to space out alot due to hittin the suspention leg,(prob cause 8inch wide i no) so put stanard rims back on. Just bought some tsw blades which are et35 15's but are seriously close to leg again???? whys this? tried a few wheels on but most of them just hit the leg? mate of mine has koni's on and has no probs what so ever, even with esc cos rims. Forgot to mention its a FRST.

As you know, ET is the offset, which is basically the distance between the hub face of the wheel, and the centre line of the wheel.
ET35 means the centre line of the wheel is further into the arch than the standard FRST wheel (ET30.5). Also add to that, the fact that the wheel is wider (guessing 6.5 or 7J) as opposed to the standard wheel's 5.5J (correct me if I'm wrong), and you have your reason for the TSW wheel being so close.

Thanks for the reply, glad its not just happenin to me then........ main concern is tyres, as i want toyo R888 but only come in 195/50/15 which the wall of the tyre will be fat. Tried the alloys with no tyres with 5mm spacers on and there fine.

Thanks for the reply, what tyres you runnin? i wanted toyo R888 part slicks but worried cause they come 195/50/15 which makes the tyre wall fatter, more likely to hit. also do you reckon theres enough thread on the wheel nut when spaced out? cause when i was runnin cossie wheels had to space out 7mm-8mm and was para bout them comin loose as not havin enough thread? ta matt.

My tyre's 195/45 r 15's should have around 5 turn's on the wheel nut's i would stick some copper grease in the nut first and then do the up very well if there not that many turn's. Cossy wheels look the nuts on fiesta's but the car's won't run well, they handles like a pig's and you will need longer wheel stud's i wouldn't bother my mate had his machined down and they still were a pig. With your new wheels make sure the nut's are are ok ever few days just to be safe for a while

The side wall of the tyre might be different but the 195 section of the tyre size is the ACTUAL width of the tyre in mm so unless someone has created a new mm measurement at toyo they will defo be the same width.
The sidewalls is what causes the most problems on a lowered car as many slope into the tyre where as some actually have very vertical sidewalls which can cause slight issues.

With different tyre manufacturers the tread shape is different which makes some tyres quite square and flat at the tread and some are more rounded and narrower if that makes sense?
Even with my set of steelies in the shed, there's 1 goodyear tyre on them which to the eye looks thinner than the rest but is still the same size
Also my new Yoko's scrub on full lock and the previous Fuldas didn't
