Careful with the amount of coats you put on the block, it will have negative results regarding the extra insulation
Looking good, the car getting a repsray then?

Re: Tora1023's fiesta bertie
not updated this in a long while so sorry about the huge one lol
bit of a change of plan
ill let the pictures do the talking
taking shape
final coat on the block
Painted the fan shroud, still needs another coat
Polished???
needs some more polish
What you think
some more pics for your pleasure
new exhaust went on after nearly 2 hours trying to get old one off,
sounds propper meaty lol
also went on parts hunting mission again, got a bumper and an rs top spoiler
some more bits for the 1.8 engine
this little lot from ford cost more then £40!!!!!!!!
got the head back and also the thrmo housing which is metal on this not plastic. had it shot blasted
looks brand new
head skimmed and gasket face cleaned
started rebuilding engine, sump on
Gmax shocks and 35mm springs
£40 bargain of the year, 14" yes 14" diamond cut rs7's need a refurb tho
bit of wet and dry
one plate done
nearly done
picked up thed rear beam with arb, my god it needs it
gunna paint it dont worry
cos the car handles like a bus, swapping the rear beam for the stronger si one with ARB
started to paint it but got too cold
also a pic of the zetec exhauset from my 2i that will be used on bert
new bumpers
picked this up today
before and after
more coloured bits
we spent about 3 hours washing all the oil off her, looks nice n shiney
fitted the head finally
new oil switch
put metal thermostat housing back together
painted the oil breather
more to come
lifters oiled up and back in
i was quite surprised at how like new stuff was once cleaned, cam belt cover back plate for the head.
oil breather fitted with its pipe
again near enough brand new coil pack bracket
Cam sensor re fitted
by the look of it, this engine has been looked after
i said some stuff would get done in september
took tyres off these ready for stripping and paint,
fitted a lower brace
arb fitted
shocks fitted
more to come including a new sill.
some welding done
you wouldnt neleive how hard it is to get a refill on this bottle, had to travel to bradford for it but cant grumble really a 50kg bottle of c02 £20.
fitted new rear beam with ARB and gmax shocks and springs , never again am i doing this as it was a right pain.
and new pistons and shoes on the rear, had a brake in ballance on mot last year, turns out that both rear pistons were seized and the shoes warn right down.
a before and after shot of 2i calipers
took her for a drive and it handles totally differnet now it has a rear ARB and stiffer beam,
omg the brakes are so keen compared to flooring the padel before
well the brakes made a hell of a differance
been having a mess with something lol
looks cool
big thanks from craig for bobbing my welder back and getting roped into getting out some xr fog lights.
take one blue xr2i bumper that had a dodgy splitter, sand it back, fibre glass the holes
then white primer done, needs flatting back then top coat
i took advantage of the hot weather
fit the splitter next then fogs once i get some new screws
fitted the back bumper temp to get a line for the body kit
also managed to get some replacement screws for the surrounds as ford are gay and used 70mm long and most places stop selling them at 50mm
good old motorbike shop helped me out in the end and i got some,
meeting up with jasperJ in the morning to collect a new fog surround
bit of a change of plan

wow !
alot of progress on this car !
any reason opting for a 18. over a 2.0 ?
ive never seen a metal zetec housing before !
could you give me the part number so i can try and source one. I think the plastic ones are cheap n nasty. Mine keeps leaking on me

ive got a feeling all the metal housings were replaced with the plastic ones. As it cost ford less to make them.
Even though they still charge £98 for it !

they are rare 14" with et 32 i think,
trouble is i cant find a full set of the botom right
the bottom left are these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310351220808? ... 1423.l2649
the other ones are ford , bottom right from 1993
top from 1998
both have same part numbers.
lsn coatings in castleford
£100 for set
the coating is only as good as the base metal, one of these was quite pitted, they tried the best to sand it out but its still noticiable.
