best place to cut it is at the thinest part.
your need to skim filer over it to blend it in, so make sure its also in a place where this is easy done with as little filler as needed

Those small bottles are ok for little jobs but they get exspensive at 13 pounds a pop. I went through 5 think doing the little bit that I did on mine. You can get a large bottle for around 30 or 40 pounds which don't run out if you leave the reg on all night lol

I use 5% Argon as it welds nicely. I have the mid size bottles, which equates to the 36" bottle on this chart:
Image

I find that lasts me a year of small odd jobs, or maybe a month of intensive weekend work. I pay £23 for a refill and £5 a month for cylinder hire, so it's hardly anything really and they collect/deliver to my door. It's only an extra £2 per refill for the largest bottle, but it's too big to be stable in my welder really.

Obviously it's a lot better if you have your own cylinder like Jay does.

clark you seen the workshop, i got plenty of extinguishers, the chubb one is purly for welding.

a argon mix as mark says is the best, i did get a account at BOC, although i never had the final paper work come through so didnt bother chasing it up, mainly cos the cost is higher being over here :x
