Awful Ride!

Postby mattyashy on Wed Mar 22, 2006 6:09 pm

Since I put my 16"s (195/50/16) on my car you feel every bump in the road, as I would have expected. Still got standard suspension on my car, so what suspension would people recommend to make the drive a bit less bumpy, bearing in mind i want to lower it at least 40mm.

Ride comfort is traded off in the intrest of handling and performance. Assuming you are on a aMk3 or 3,5 Fiesta your tyres are th ewrong profile, you really should be using 195/45/16 or better still 195/40/16.

You just won't get the drop you want and retain a nice comfy ride I'm afraid

But is there no suspension out there that will improve the ride slightly? Oh yeah, btw my tyres are 195/45/16, got it wrong last time.

I found my old konis improved the ride over standard, and improved the handling obviously.

It didnt lower it much though, only about 25mm, thats on an si.

The best compromise would be to use 4 brand new standard dampers or Koni top adjustables set to soft and use a progressive rate spring with no more than a 25mm drop
