B reg fiesta *For sale Oct 17*
Re: B reg fiesta *Update 26.10.12 new MOT*
my mondeo reservoir tilts forward slightly - dont effect it at all.
i had the same issue with brake lights staying on so just adjusted switch.
Mine didnt need adjusting internally just bolted up nicely
with that and the st brake calipers my mk2 stops on a 2p piece
I also renewed both rear brake cylinders, rear shoes & adjusters to make sure the rear was doing its job to the best it should be.

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 22.04.13*
Update.
Hav’nt done a thing on the car for months now, so yesterday decided I would start it up and reposition it so I could get the front shocks off to fit my new (higher) springs. Ive had them for ages but not been assed to fit them.
One thing I have noticed though is my dust covers are knackered on these shocks. I cant find any for a mk2, but I can find them for a mk3, I wonder if mk3 ones will fit? Anyone know?
Cheers.

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 22.04.13*
Small update to this.
I have refitted the front suspension, but while I was at it I decided to polybush the front end and clean / paint the front arches and suspension components.
I have also had the body kit refurbished and obtained a mk5 Fiesta zetec s gear linkage. Car is due to go back to the body shop soon to have front valence and a few other bits seen to.
Im on the look out for a genuine Ford bonnet as well, as long as its not rotted out I would be interested, if anyone has one please let me know.

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 22.04.13*
More work done on the car over the last few months. Not been on the road again this year, and wont be either. But the plan is to get it back on the road for next spring.
Ive had the front end replaced as the old one was badly dented and rusted a little at the bottom. Also had the passenger side lower rear quarter re-profiled as at some stage the back end of the cills have been repaired and the plate they welded back on the outside did not follow the lines of the car properly which meant there was always a big gap between the body of the car and plastic wheel arch at this point, so now it will all line up as Ford intended.
While it was at the body shop I had the old rivet holes in the doors, wings and rear quarter filled as it previously had the side body mouldings on it, what with it being an L – so nice fresh paint in this area now.
Other than nothing else has been done, ive had a busy year and the car has not really been the main priority in terms of money expenditure because I got married in September. Still haven’t fitted the kit as I want to get the whole car detailed up first. Ive started on the roof and drivers side, which can be seen in the pics below., i seem to spend a lot of time detailing other peoples cars nowadays and not my own!
I want to get new metal number plates made up and have the wheels refurbed prior to going back on the road. Im also on the look out for a genuine bonnet as this pattern one is poor and will not line up nicely.
Think im going to take the head off over the coming months, get it pressure tested and skimmed, new tappets and new cam shaft oil seals as well. I have a sticky tappet at the moment, its always been like it, but with the car being laid up and not used it has become worse and refuses to fill out and quieten down.

Mk2 looks quality !
I'm attempting to fit the puma gear linkage which is the same as the zetec s one you have.
It's gonna need cutting down to fit as the rods are too long.
If you try to offer up the selector as it is the gear selector shaft sits too far back in the hole in the tunnel.
Then Hit the handbrake when u put it in 4th gear.

Cheers, slowly getting there.
I've read that as well RE gear linkage - although there is conflicting information on xrtwo.com as some say it bolts up. I personally have not checked yet.
Looking to get the car on the road for next year.

I read that too on xrtwo.com
Took their word for it and took off the old selector and offered up the puma one to find its not a simply bolt on job, far more involved to get it fitted properly. It will bolt right up if your willing to cut the floor away to allow the gear selector to go in 4th. Also you can't select 4th gear with hand brake on
I will be getting it cut Down and welded up to suit the car not cut up the car to suit it

Clark that's exactly what I intend to do as well.
Jay - Im looking forward to actually using mine next year as well.
Has anyone noticed how much money mk2's are making these days? Expect to pay near a grand for anything half decent nowadays. I remember not so long ago mk2's were cheap as chips.

I bet a are, I'm gunna use the rs more next year or that's the plan anyway lol
And yes, mk2's are going for good money and have been for some years now, I've seen mk2 xr2's which are right rot box dogs go for like £400-£600 and I think back to ones I've scraped in the past which have been better! Hell I sold a running xr2 (not T&T) and a another xr2 with no engine and a boot load if spares about 12 years ago and struggled to sell the lot for £50!!

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 22.04.13*
Hi all, this has not been updated for some time. I done some work (tiny bit lol) on it last year, its just ultra slow progress
Things done were:
- Source genuine bonnet, repair, paint and fit
- Re- fit kit
- Wet sand out some orange peel
- Source and fit new decent EFI tank ( with proper swirl pot)
- Fit rear genuine Ford speaker brackets & speakers
Ive been saying this for ages, but I am actually going to put it on the road this year. All it needs now is MOT'ing and taxing, want to put it on the road for March time which will mean its been off the road for three years! time goes so quickly!
Heres a few pictures (totally random order)

Sure has, been a slow slow process getting it back together. Ive been looking at loads of mk2's lately on forums etc and I already think that when Autumn comes around, it will be off the road again to take engine out to paint the bay and tidy things up under the bonnet.
But before that I just want to use it and have some fun in it - hopefully we get another summer like last year

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 26.01.15*
Been doing more work on this over the past few weeks. I decided that because of the miss fire I would strip the head down, send it away and have it skimmed /pt etc and fit new tappets and cam seals at the same time.
So that's what ive done but now, today - when I finally got it all back together it started up fine but is still bloody missing! Plus now I have a random and quite bad fuel leak from the tank (ive not touched this during the recent works, its just decided to start leaking!!! ) and temp gauge has decided it no longer wants to work, which again is bloody annoying.
SO now I cant really do any investigations into the missing until I repair the fuel leak. It seems that its always 2 steps forwards and 1 back with this bloody car! Im getting fed up with it.
Originally I was convinced the missing was down to a knackered tappet, not filling out hence why I decided to replace them - but its still missing so I will have to think again. I think the next stage is a compression test as im now worried that something else is wrong in the valve train??
I just want it to work again so I can use it a little bit!

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 26.01.15*
Car is running smoothly again.
Missing was down to faulty coil pack.
Fuel leak was down to split pipe, no idea how this has happened the car hasn't even been used for the last 3 years. New silicone pipe ordered along with some different fuel connections.
Temp gauge working........I forgot to plug the sender in,.
Got some new plugs and thermostat to fit aswell. Hopefully the remaining bits will arrive in the post tomorrow so I can fit them over the weekend. Who knows all being well it could be mot'd next week

Re: B reg fiesta *Update 26.01.15*
Not updated for a while.
Car passed the MOT first time back in June. Done a few miles in it not a massive amount though. Car is running ok, although I have a noisy tappet which is very annoying especially seeing as they are all new.
I need to get the wheels balanced as they are causing a lot of steering wheel shudder past 55.
Still loads of jobs need doing, badges back on, rear bumper stripe, new front grill, replacement passenger door, wire in the speakers and give inside a bloody good clean, maybe some new wheels....etc etc etc
Ive also started buying some other bits for it, namely a Focus RS engine and a standard FRS turbo and manifold!
Ill try and get a few pics up of the car.

Nice mk2 - standard engine?
Jay - I thought id have another go at turbo'ing it.......properly this time after the last occasion!
Nothing will be happening for a long time, need to get a lot more bits yet and I wont be rushing into it. Plan is to eventually run it on omex ecu and loom. Need to find a rear start, cable speedo drive and cable clutch operated IB5 gear box from a mk5/6 escort aswell.
Its just nice being able to drive it again. I forgot how well it goes, it really does shift! I want to get a rolling road run in this year just for a laugh to see what power it actually makes.

Hi - Ive not been here for ages now, and similarly ive not used the Fiesta hardly at all in the last 3 years other than taking it for MOT.
I have taken the difficult decision and decided to sell the car. Its not advertised anywhere else yet. It just dosnt get used and is now sat in storage, it was used three times last year and only once this year for a friends wedding. Its just sat around covered up at other times and with other things going on in my lift at the moment I need the money.
Ive owned the car exactly 10 years this month, bought as a standard 1100 L. If people are interested they can have a good read through here as I think it covers most things about the car. Its Mot'd until Jan 18 I think.
It is a very good solid shell, I have also had quite a lot of resto work carried out as documented in this thread.
Brief spec is :
1985 1100 L Fiesta - solid shell, new inner and outer rear arches professionally replaced. New front panel, good condition genuine bonnet, doors are solid and have been repainted as originally had side impact plastics on. Underneath is wax oyled and solid.
Refurbed xr2 kit including rear spoiler / hatch surround
Genuine carello spot lights correctly wired in to full beam
15" escort GTI wheels with good tyres
I removed the 1100 engine in 2008 and fitted a 2.0 zetec :
DEEP mk1 Mondeo ECU with superchips piggy back chip
Wired up using a Fiesta mk3.5 si loom, correctly done with fuel pump prime upon ignition. ECU is located in glove box and not fudged in the engine bay.
Has a 5 speed Fiesta Si gearbox and Fiesta RS turbo clutch
4 branch manifold
Mondeo K&N air filter
Fiesta RS1800 HO manifold and throttle body
Currently running a standard mk2 xr2 exhaust but I do have a stainless steel Scorpion system also
Engine recently had new head gasket, skim and pressure test, new tappets, thermostat, plugs etc all less than 200 miles ago.
Has proper injection fuel tank with built in swirl post with a cosworth external fuel pump and wired into fuel cut off switch which is mounted in the boot.
Interior :
Genuine XR2 front door cards and complete XR2 dash. All clocks and dials work correctly, temp gauge, rev, oil pressure etc all wired in properly.
Genuine Fiesta RS Turbo recaros
mk2 xr2 gear stick surround
Has no rear seats
I do have the original L interior but I am unsure as to the condition of this now as it has been sat in a shed for years
XR2 steering wheel
Suspension + Brakes:
Standard xr2 shocks with Fiesta centre -25mm springs
Cosworth brake callipers with RS2000 discs
Mondeo brake servo
Adjustable rear panhard rod
I think that's about everything. The car was converted to run zetec properly and not bodged. The correct parts were sourced to carry out the conversion. It does go very well, I have no idea on power as never had it tested but it weighs nothing so its nippy.
These are quite rare now especially in good condition with this spec. Looking for around £2800
Contact me through here or treeheadrs85@gmail.com if interested.
I also have lots of other bits for sale separately :
x2 focus rs engines
Focus rs gt25 turbo and manifold
Focus RS downpipe
mk5 fiesta zetec s gear linkage
xr2 scorpion exhaust
I will do a proper thread in the for sale section.
Regards Gareth.
