Lol I feel worse for wear today, went stright from work to the pub, misses was / is not impressed. :oooh:

Not sure wheather to buy the ally or not now?.....

Dave - If you do make two up then yeah for sure I will buy the other one off you. I have'nt got round too making a CAD drwg yet (due to last night antics) Would you want a drwg? or will just make them up anyway?

From looking at it the other day it looks really simply - Just needs to be the right shape to sit between the two and the hole in the middle needs to be the same size as TB etc. The 4 holes (bolt holes) dont need to be threaded either. I think if I had the material I could make one but it would be a little crude, and plus I would struggle to make the hole in the middle.

Let me know chap,

Gareth.

When you say the three bolts are for fixing it to a plate, I presume these three bolts are what physically bolt the unit to say the bulkhead for example?

Oh & how much would you like for it kind sir?

the 3 bolts would bolt it to a mounting plate, that plate is then mounts to, i belive on the escorts, the lip on the bulk head or a bit that juts out from the inner wing, i can remember tbh mate.

as for price, i dunno if im doing the right thing to let it go in case i need it  , but your needs are greater than mine right now so im willing to sell, but i dunno what its worth tbh mate, make a offer fella

right then pal i have just got back from the garage where i have been looking into this and i dont see why we cant use the original TB and TPS as they both have 3 wires with the same colors too so im thinking of joining them up unless there is a valid reason why i / we shouldnt do that???

also do you know how much room is at the rear of the inlet manafold as i was thinking of milling a 10mm spacer that fits between the zetec feul rail plate thing and the inlet manafold so the original ISCV can be used...???

any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated mate

Jay - You have PM. :)

Dave - Im not sure Ive always been under the impression from research and talking to other people that the FRST TPS should be used with the FRST management??

As for space behind the inlet, my 2.0l is in a mk2 fiesta which has less space than the mk3 and I would say you could easily accomodate a 10mm spacer between. whether or not that will allow you to retain the original iscv im not sure.

it looks as tho it may work but the only prob with using the fsts rail i can see is the inj sit slightly at an angle so i think th spray pattern maybe out slightly so ill be looking at a blacktop rail as you said mate!!

i think regarding the spacer plate i have had a look and i think if the holes in thefrst TB are made wider (sawn off so its an open ended slot) then there will be no problem in making a plate as the holes are not out by that much at all maybe 5mm max! so ether way dont look bad!! will do some more reserching and let you know this week mate!

Hi all,

Ive been so flat out in work this last couple of weeks that ive not had time to even look at the engine unfortuantly not even on the weekends  .

Regards the ally plate Im tempted to do what Dave is going to do and join the FRST TPS wires to the zetec TPS and see how that goes.

I have still been collecting parts for it though and the other day my decomp plate arrived and ive also bought some new head studs ready to refit the head. Just need to purchase a focus RS headgasket then I can the head back on. Hopefully sorted a FRST ACT sensor as well. Jay supplied the remote part of the iscv aswell so many thanks for that. :Q

One thing I have cleared in my mind over the last couple of weeks is the fuel rail assembly. Im now using this method as seen here : (about third of the way down)

low-budget-zetec-turbo-guide-vt157933/

On the end of the zetec fuel rail (not the injectors them selves) on each 4 injector ports you will see the small rubber seals as in the above post. Fit these on the end of the 701's and they will then fit in the zetec sandwhich plate negating the need to run the top feel injectors into the zetc fuel rail. So basically its the same set up as on the FRST this method does away with the zetec fuel rail.

Very handy i thought.

Gareth.

dave - Hows your ZT coming along as well?

thats the way my injectors are now i am using c20let red top injectors as according to that chart there only 1bhp highr than beiges and run the same ohms etc.. just knocked up a mount for the rail it as i wanted it secure it only just misses the ISCV tho on mine and will but if yours is remote it should be fine, only thing is it lokks like the spray pattern will be out but by the time fuel reaches there its used and gone anyway isnt it....??? the bottom end is in i have tapped the back of the block and sump and have pipes in them now bought 2 focus rs headgaskets (would recomend that as i heard that glue is toss) at 32 quid each its dear but worth it also got new head dowls as there only 1.22 each the air charge sensor fits directly into the back of the inlet to mate with the alloy reducer from the frst,

now im waiting for the postman to bring my decomp plate then its getting thrown together

will need a cossie pump and a better oil catch/breather tank thing at a later date but to make it run i should be ok....

Sounds good that. Some good info there as well. What colour are those c20let injectors? Am i right in thinking they are a yellow colour?

We need pics though - update your thread. :bonkers:

Update.

Today has been the first day in ages that i have had chance to work on the engine.

Cleaned the block and head up, fitted the head gaskets and decomp plate and then torqued down the head, all this took quite a while.

After this I decided to see if I can retain the std zetec breather on the front, so i bolted up the manifold adapter followed by the exhaust and turbo its self to see what was what. To start with the elbow on the turbo was fouling the breather box but only slightly. Whipped the exhaust back off done a slight modification to the breather in the form of bending the lower section of it ever so slightly, offered the turbo back up and its fine, it clears! :D :D Im chuffed about this as now I dont have to mess around with drilling a new hole in the back of the block.

I got some pics today and here they are:

Yeah getting there....slowly!lol.

Tomorrow I will fit my cam belt kit and hopefully do some work on the inlet - get the munson rings to secure the fuel rail, drill new hole in back of manifold for the remote iscv.

So hopefully another update then.

you want to make sure the inj sit nicely or try the blacktop rail mate as the frst rail sits slanted and the sandwhich plate wants them to sit straight mine hissed a tad at first as i had them too far over! :)

update.

Yesterday I had a good day with the engine. Cams are now back in and torqued up also fitted my cam belt kit so the engine is now all timed. :Q Things left to do now are finish the inlet manifold which has been lingering around for ages now. My plan for this is to use the zetec inlet manifold make adapter to allow fitment of the frst tb. Drill hole in back of manifold to plumb in my remote iscv. Fuel side thats nearly done and consists of the frst fuel rail in the zetec sandwhich plate, this will be secured use pipe clips which will bolt into the orginal mounts on the sandwhich plate.

Once the inlet is sorted I can get the bolted up with new gaskets etc. THe only other job left to apart from the above is to weld in a return on the sump and clean and paint it. I cant do this yet though because the sump will be coming off the 2.0l which is currently in the car and is still in use so this will be one of the last jobs. So im not far off doing the transplant again, I have my loom, ecu and map sensor now aswell. I need to change those wires on the 2i loom to support the ofac ecu which i can do shortly.

I still need to order an intercooler for it though and maybe he odd 90 degree pipe to plum it all in.

Ive not done anything on the car today though because I got hideously drunk last night and as such have been hung over all day! lol headache dos'nt come close more like a bloody migrane lol.  why oh why do i do it   :(

Update.

Been down the workshop again this morning and got a bit more done, cam cover on and fitted the three cam belt covers also.

The biggest thing I done today though was fit my fuel rail to the sandwhich plate. I got two brass munson rings, with standard M10 thread. I then had to drill out two of the three locating holes in the zetec sandwhich plate and tap them to accept an M10 sized bolt. Once this was done, I chopped the heads off the bolts & tappered the ends so they would screw nicly into the muson ring.

Heres the pics (please excuse the quality they were taken on my phone):

Image

Here you can see the new bolts into the standard zetec holes with munson rings attached. It holds the fuel rail in perfect. :)

Image

Just a general pic of the engine as it stands ATM. Going to fit the coil pack, thermostat housing etc in the coming days before I go back to work.

Oh and after I had finished playing with that I went and got something for JayRS, here you go mate.

Dave - Those are just the standard FRST injectors - I will most probably drop the engine in with these still installed, sort the loom out and see if she will fire up. Once everything is done they will be replaced for some 701's.

I wonder how well the blues would do though as at one point they were running 170bhp in my FRST before i upped the boost and swopped to 701's????

Those vaux injectors then, are they the correct ohms? If they are I will fit some of them as they will no doubt be a darn sight cheaper than 701's? What calibra were they fitted to? the 2.08v, 16v or only the turbo version??
