Re: B reg fiesta *zetec turbo 31/12/09*
black2 :I wonder how well the blues would do though as at one point they were running 170bhp in my FRST before i upped the boost and swopped to 701's????
Those vaux injectors then, are they the correct ohms? If they are I will fit some of them as they will no doubt be a darn sight cheaper than 701's? What calibra were they fitted to? the 2.08v, 16v or only the turbo version??
Gareth.
deff 16 ohms, cant remember which engine buddy ill find the code this week if you like? but i think there from the 2l 16v na red top maybe the same in the vectras??? in which case any scrappys will have them, and they fit in ya pocket easy enough!! there light blue in color and look like this...

Hey Jay - yeah its getting there slowly. Few more bits and bobs to do before it goes in the bay.
You did ask me for some rear belts as well, I will remove these for you at some point did'nt really have the time today tbh.
Done anymore on your xr2 lately?
Gareth.

Re: B reg fiesta *zetec turbo 31/12/09*
Right an update for the car but not the new engine.
Couple of weeks ago I was driveing home from xmas shopping along our lovely smooth devon roads, it was dark by this point and I was going through a small village - doing 30 and following the traffic when all of a sudden there was an hudge bang, i mean massive bang I had clearly hit some sort of meteorite crater! After to which I have noticed when the steering is on lock and yoou go over a bump the front right wheel would hit the arch which it never used to do.
So today I had some time to do some investigations. I whipped th strut off, put it in the vice removed the spring to see what was what. The strut it self was bent and I could push it in very very easily for the first 2 or 3 inches of movement it was so week, so that "bump" i hit basically blew the shock up!! Good job I have some spare mk2s else I would have had to buy a new strut. Now this really pisses me off because I pay all that money for road tax and the roads round here are terriable, absoutly disgusting they are! Im even thinking of putting some new standard xr2 springs on it because I just cant handle the bumps anymore it gets on my funlumps, its too hard for the roads round here!
Any way heres some pics - nothing exciting but I had my phone so thought Id get some photos.
Even had some time to build the worlds smallest crapiest snow man as well
And heres the car all fixed and back on the ground again, it dosnt rub no more.

Re: B reg fiesta zt *repaired broken suspension 02/01/10*
both really mate
if the wheel was forced back a tad it could of damaged them, well the bottom one thinking about it.
it doesnt sound too bad damage wise so rack and track rod end prob ok, but for it to move enough to bend the shock, it must of been forced up or back

Sphinx :God that must have been an arse of a job in this weather!
TBH it was'nt bad - I did'nt even feel cold i was well wrapped up and kept myself busy. Its such an easy job on the mk2 must have taken about 15 mins from jacking the car up to removing the strut, the longest part was using the gay spring compressers to dismantle the strut - I hate those bloody things!
I dont mind this weather - I love to see the snow, im a big kid

Re: B reg fiesta zt pace charge cooler 16/01/10*
Hi all,
not much of an update really but today i dug out the pace chargecooler which we have sat in the garage, its not new but it all works fine so rather than shelling out for an intercooler for around £80 - 100 i have decided to use the chargecoler for one simple reason, its wont cost me anything, and seeing as this is a budget zt then than sits perfect with me
Heres some pics, ive had a very crude mock up in one of my scrap mk2 fiestas too see what space i will have, as you can see theres no engine in it but it looks as though it will all fit in........just. The problem is the charge tank its self is huge so takes a lot of space.

Try adding a gallon or so water tank that will help keep temps down even further

Im planning on wrapping the charge tank with that reflectant heat wrap stuff, from memory its like a multi foil thing, my freind done this to his st205 gt4 and it works very well.
Wont be long now till I strip the 2.0l out the car ready to fit the zt, looking to start soon.

yeah that will help, but after so long the heat will build up, and the water will get very warm, the more water, the longer it will take.
Plus if you add a tank, you can add ice water to really extract some power

Re: B reg fiesta zt pace charge cooler 16/01/10*
Small update.
During last week a couple more parts turned up for my zt. I bought some aluminium 6mm thick approx 250mm square so I can make up two plates, 1 for blanking off the zetec idle valve and the other an adapter/spacer so i can fit the frst tb to the zetec inlet. The other thing was a new genuine Ford FRST ACT sensor for the bargain price of £10!
After i finished working on the FRST (see other thread if interested) I set about making the spacer plate, I drew round the gasket and cut in out, still need to drill the 4 bolt holes and then the large hole in the middle but the basic shape is done. Should get this finished one evening this week.

Hi all, not much of an update but my oil feed pipe for the turbo turned up today, was'nt sure if it would fit because its for a T3 not a T2 but it transpiers that the connections are the same so that was ideal. Hopefully got a suitable sump coming soon.
Updates will be coming quicker soon because I have booked the first week of march off to do the conversion so hopefully will be running some zt power soon.

lol I have ended up working this week now because were quite busy atm etc. So ive booked next week off instead, just a mad rush to try and get things finished at work so i can not worry about anything during the week off
I do have a small update as well, no pics yet but will get some- I have ordered by custom chip from MSD which should be here today, and i also bought some 701 injectors, they were an absolute steel so had to have them, plus msd could'nt confirm to me if the vaux items were the same as the 701's (the chip is written for the use of 701's). Im probably going to leave the vaux ones in, get it running take to a rolling road to check all the parameters are fine, and if the fueling is out I will put the 701's in, if their fine i will sell the beiges on for a nice proffit.

Update.
Had one last blast this morning with the old girl on my private track (poor xr2i, lol )
Had a spare few hours this afternoon so started work on removing the current 2.0l. The engine is just about ready to drop out, just got to disconnect gear linkage and drive shafts.

dangerousdave :how far you got today then buddy?
Not done anything today been with the mrs all day. Plus I feel a touch of man flu coming on as well . So thought it best to stay in the warm today.
Tomorrow the engine will be out, will be swopping sumps round and fitting the oil return to it as well then swop the fly wheel clutch and inlet manifold over bolt the box back on and the aim is to have the zt in there on wednesay which should be doable providing theres no problems. Then the end of the week will be spent wiring in the ofac loom, plumbing in the charge cooler & boost gauge, aim for towards the end of the week is to have spark at the very least
Should be good.

Cheers guys.
TBH the wiring was'nt that bad last time, and this times theres only 7 wires instead of 10, plus the fuel pump, fuel pump relay and inertia switch is already fitted from when i put the zetec in so fingers crossed the wiring wont be too bad.
Got to get a sump gasket, rocker cover gasket and tb gasket tomorrow as well.
