so did u DIY urs brad??? i can get the welding done for nowt n get the metal and get it cut to right shape for nowt so all i'd need was to have the rest smoothed flush to the bonnet with fibreglass. how much should I expect a bodyshop to charge for smoothing it??

I got my bonnet done for about £120 from a mate. This included buying some mesh, a 5mm metal rod to give the vent a factory finish, constructing the vent, welding the bad boy eyebrows on and spraying. At the weekend I borrowed a welder & put bigger bad boy brows on myself, filled them with fibreglass & filler & then smoothed it all out. It took a long time to get it perfect but I'm well chuffed with how it looks & the job's finish.

Thats a real issue what MOT problems will arise? cos you must block out around 50% of the light! Someone must know whos had it done.

hmm expensive i plan to buy a cheap second hand jobbie and let my m8 at it, all new to him but its a learning experience!
y use fibreglass, surely it cracks and splinters when hit or put under pressure. y not just smooth of welds and filler it smooth!?

If you just use big blobs of filler it won't stay there for too long so I used Fibreglass in the areas that needed packing out more than about 2mm and then skimmed the filler over the top. Filler will crack more easily than fibreglass if you use big scoops of the stuff!
