Battery relocation

Postby andymac on Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:53 pm

What size (awg / area) cable have people used for their battery relocation projects ? I was going to use 35mm2 (2 gauge) welding cable which is cheap and cheerful, wondered what other people had used / done.

I used 2awg amp wiring kit. With a circuit breaker rather than a fuse, but if you crank for too long it trips out.

Was going to use a 200A breaker as they go at 80-100% of rating, which would make it a 160A breaker at worst but can't find a UK stockist so will go for fuses instead. The cable is, I believe, rated at a little over 200A so will go for a pair of fuses (one at each end) and wire in some failure indicators.

is it a track car mate or for the road iv just used .10 cooker cable for the bat in the boot but its just a track car so im not running stereos, light, fans, and the like so its fine for what i need but if you get some good forklift battery cable that should work fine ,,its also very bendy so ideal to hide away my jump leads are made from forklift cable and they have done very well for the last few years
