Be different and go for a jap-style Blitz indigo-faced item

it will look te nutsack, and be well accurate cos they definitely know what they are doing

but hey, its only as accurate as the monkey who fits it

If you look at http://www.greengauges.co.uk you can design your own.

I've got a CAI boost gauge and it is pretty accurate after I fitted an extra rubber washer bewteen the gauge and the hose fitting because it was leaking. Not the best night time illumination though.

Duncan,

I see from your night time picture you've got one of Mike Rainbird's ACT guages, no? I can't see from the photograph exactly where you have put it. I've just ordered mine and would like ideas on best place to put it.

Also where did you mount the sensor?

Cheers,
John

DOH!!!

I've just realised that we are looking at an ERST dash board in the pictures and not a FRST one!
Still, good ideas on where to mount the gauge on the dash would be helpful.

Cheers,
John

Ok Mr. Quantum John....

Although as you've correctly realised, I don't have the ERST shown in the pictures, I do, however, have one of Mike R's ACT gauges.

Do Quantum's have a Mk.3 Fezza dash then? If so, I found the best place to mount the gauge is to the left of the steering wheel, on the grey plastic under the dash clocks shroud. You will see a sort of curved-edge rectangle embossed into the plastic at this point. This marks the spot.

As for the sensor, I've mounted mine directly after the intercooler. I tried mounting it just before the throttle butterfly, but I found that when stationary the heat conducted from the engine would heat the sensor up so much that an accurate reading was impossible until I'd driven for about 5 mins afterwards.

Hope this helps.

The "Turbo with Control unit" costs £150 and is basically a 52mm boost gauge with the Defi link controller which is worth £75 on it's own. This is quite a good starting price methinks. All you then need to buy is the boost pressure sender unit for about £30.

After that extra gauges and sender units can be added to the controller at an extra £120 per gauge.

But, as you said, I defo think they're worth it as they are gorgeous!

Duncan,
Cheers for your info on the ACT gauge. Just for your info the Quantum H4 that I have uses everything out of a MK3 Fiesta. I used a stuffed FRST which was never going to see daylight again (cos it pains me to see a perfectly good RS being broken).

The point in the dashboard you mention I can't use because I have fitted leccy mirrors and that's where I have put the Ford controller for them. Besides can you still see it while driving from there?

I've also ordered the sensor from Mike with a threaded end so that I can drill and tap the throttle plenum for best temperature results. Is yours drilled and tapped or tucked inside one of the hoses?

Cheers,
John

P.S. The defi gauges look the dogs whatsits. Has anyone tried the SPA digital gauges? Their turbo boost one includes a readout for the ACT.

Quantum John :Besides can you still see it while driving from there?

I can see it from my driving position, yes. Sometimes, when cornering the steering wheel gets in the way, however.

Quantum John :Is yours drilled and tapped or tucked inside one of the hoses?

Mine is tucked inside the hose that goes from the intercooler to the charge carrier (T U R B O) pipe. I didn't get a boss to mount mine with. :( Still works a treat tho!
