Best engine oil

hi want to give my motor some oil but not sure of a decent 1 for my mk3 fiesta 1.6si any ideas

err, cant remember. look in your handbook. Ford recommends one. Castrol or something :-? tells you the weight too.

ford recomends 10/40 i think but use 5/30!!! Thats what i have done as per recomendation from the forum!

u lot are mad the proper stuff to be using in zetecs is 5-30 grade semi or fully synthetic stuff. fully synthetic can go for more miles than semi.

In my oil change last saturday, i put in Castrol Magnatec 5-30w.

Meant to be good quality, cost enough!!

Castrol Magnatec is a semi-synthetic - adequate but not the best.

what is the best oil in 5W30 form then? I though Magnatec was supposed to offer protection from cold startup, is that just a sales pitch or do other oils do this as well?

Best to go for a ford approved 5w-30, the ford spec is WSS M2C913 A/B. Most are semi syntethics but some full synthetics are out there, the best we know of is the Motul 8100 range or the Motul Ford Specific.
