Best fan switch to go for ?

Postby Frst123 on Tue May 24, 2016 4:56 pm

I have a 82 degree thermostat and I was wondering whether to go for Motor Sport Development uprated fan switch or a standard one ?

Cheers

what temp does the Motor Sport Development switch kick in at? a car parts place like nyanza had 2 different temp fan switches, one was a much lower temp one and worked very well.

i picked up a fan switch from http://www.autodoc.co.uk, I bought the 92-87c hella fan switch.
there are a few you can get
yellow - 95-90c this is the standard one my fiesta si came with
green - 95-88c this is a good one if u want the fan kick in temp to be same as standard when the needle gets to the N mark, can runs for longer than standard yellow one till rad temp is back down to 88c.
grey - 92-87c, this is the switch I bought can kicks in little bit sooner when the needle is almost just about to touch the N on the guage.

there is also a fan switch available from a ford Granada 1982 2.5 diesel, eurocarparts part number: 223590091
this has a temp of 86-77c. I was thinking of getting this one but the zetecs run hot as it is which means the fan might have triggered on when on the motorway in hot weather under heavy acceleration since the si has a 88c thermostat. would probably work well with a lower temp thermostat, like the Honda accord 77c or 82c thermostat.
