Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Mark - As you know, I bolted my coilovers on a couple of days before FITP. I haven't had a chance to set them up properly yet, but at the moment they're set at about 10mm lower than it sat on the Gmax -35mm kit I had. It's a touch too low at the front to get my trolley jack under, so from a practical point of view, I'll raise it the minimum amount necessary to slip the jack under. From then on, I'll raise the back a touch more, and eventually aim to get it on the corner scales and tweak the back end from then on. Not quite sure what weight distribution to aim for at the moment though.
So I suppose my answer is about a 40mm drop really. It won't scrub, won't bottom out on everything, and I'll still be able to use a conventional jack. It makes it a pretty low car with 195/45/15, but a very practical height. With the drop I have at the moment (around 45-50mm) I got a light grazing of the exhaust on one speed bump when leaving FITP (didn't touch at all on the way in - I blame briggsy's sandwiches! ). I have camber adjustable lower arms so can run any sort of drop I want really, and the stiffer springs of the coilovers mean I don't run the risk of bottoming out or scrubbing, but I think 40mm is a good height

IMHO .. -35mm on 15"s or 16"s is just about right..
Why ?? just because:
- You don't have any technical problems to solve then, like rubbing on full lock or rubbing on the inner arch of any kind..
- It just looks right .. The distance from the tyre to the arch is almost the same all around the tyre/arch (depends on the load you put in the boot though)
- Using the correct ET value .. the wheels also are nice in line with the arch (seen from the front .. or the back of the car)
That's just the looks
For handerling .. and every day driving
With all the speed bumps of today .. lower then -35mm is just horror.
My fiesta hardly catches any speedbumps when driving over it..
Sure you have to slow down for them, but that's why they invented them.. (not to ruin your car)
For driveability .. well.. i use Koni sport dampers (yellow top adjustable) and Apex springs.. and it gives me a sporty ride.. nothing compared to the standard shocks and springs ..
The handling is improved quite a bit though..
In combination with the Deflex lower arm bushes i say it's on the outer limit of comfortable ... so lowering it even more will be the drop to overflow the bucket..

mines a corner slayer at -60mm in 15s, bumps make it a bit unpredictable tho, there so hard when you go down a bump at bout 70 it throws you out and nearly into a hedge. still fun tho watch ma m8s ibiza spin after he tried to follow my speed through that corner the other day. was only funny cos it didnt damage nothin tho.
